Seems like almost the entire ladies field will be absent from nationals due to injuries, “colds”, “pneumonia “ or in the case of a few honest people corona. Which goes back to the above poster and their “why wouldn’t skaters who had been exposed but tested negative participate?” Easy answer is that from my understanding Russian COVID test yield false negatives almost 50% of the time. Even the best tests (not usually used in Russia) aren’t 100 accurate. If you are exposed, you should isolate. Not spread the infection to everyone at a huge event. The attitude of the federation is really disgraceful.
Got to push it off until January probably late January. In all seriousness this is getting ridiculous. Kogan says everything is going as planned. WTF.

They have so many golden possibilities in Russia and Singles Ladies and pairs. Just send everybody home until the springtime or something.

I have heard ideas about doing World Championships virtually and I don't like it but I will take it rather than not have a world championships and I've heard about having the world championships in a bubble I don't know how they would figure that out. But I would take it.

Anna should take the season off yes it will hurt she will not have a Russian national three-peat as I thought she would. But her health and next season are far more important. Her parents are very cerebral and I'm sure they will make the right decision for this Sensational 16 year old.

Unless her back somehow gets better I think Evgenia should take the season off too. Especially coming off her illness or cold or a combination of both.

Well kudos to Mishin and Liza for being honest and confirming it's Covid. It's obvious that it's spreading through the Russian skating team considering just how many are out at the moment with "colds" and "pneumonia". Athletes don't normally check out of competitions for light illnesses so this is a serious problem and it's so disappointing how blasé RusFed are with this.
why would you give them kudos for being honest and confirming its covid? I think I know the answer to this question but I'll wait for your answer.

Lz all the skaters getting sick is just so shocking but it shouldn't be because people testing positive for this virus is happening all over the world in a Million and these athletes as great as they are in his great shape as they are with unbelievable immune systems are not immune to this virus obviously.

Wait big Liza has covid-19 now? After just winning in Moscow over Sasha and aliona?
This is getting surreal. I hope the symptoms do not shed and she's fine in a couple weeks.
Given her age and fitness level, she's overwhelmingly likely to feel better in a few days. I'm much more worried about the coaches and other older adults on her team.

They should reschedule Nationals to happen later in January - since Euros is almost guaranteed to be canceled at this point.

And then they should close it off to spectators and strictly enforce mask wearing and social distancing and overall stop gambling with the health of their athletes and coaches.

Let's be honest as fans of the Russian ladies and Russian figure skating Russian Nationals is much more important than Europeans.
It is not.
As of today it is a much more harder competition, but it's status is lesser than an EU championship by definition.
It is for the skaters, who's winner name will be listed among the greates skaters ever, and so it is especially for the federation that can find confirmation of the excellence of his skaters only trough international wins.
It is sad that there are so few international events in skating.
You can be the greater skater ever born, but if you skate in your backyard nobody will ever recognized it.

I would assume that it is much better to actually say you have Covid so those who have had close contact with you can also test and see their results. If you just lied and said it was a cold or something you would be infecting dozens of others and those others, not knowing they have contracted Covid, would go out and infect dozens of others too.

Russian Cup Finals, February 23-27 in the seniors will probably serve as the decisive qualifier event for World Championships.

FFKKR sticks to its plans and calendar until the world crumbles. Now, if Worlds get cancelled ...

Edwin, when do the senior ladies skate at Sankt Petersburg?
December 10, Thursday

11.00 - 13.20 - Women. Short program (Ice preparation after 2nd warm-up)
13.20 - 13.35 - Ice preparation
13.35 - 14.25 - Pair skating. Short program
14.25 - 14.40 - Ice preparation
14.40 - 17.15 - Men. Short program (Ice preparation after 2nd warm-up)

All times local Sankt Peterburg time obviously.

No changes in the participants list yet, according to the article I've linked to above, Sof'ya Samodurova is training, while the other Mishin skaters sit in quarantine.
Today, I've observed that masks discipline is a little better, but social distancing not. Many coaches still remove their masks when talking directly into the faces of their pupils.

If RusFed is kind though, they can count Rostelecom Cup as a Russian Stage result - then Tuktamysheva and Guliakova are both definitely through to Nationals.
Don't worry, everything looks like RusNuts will be postponed, and then Kogan will do an Oprah:
