What a competition!!! I'm just shouting here, must calm down.

On a realistic note: I'm still worried about Anna's health and hope this won't affect her soon, but this is bravery. Not what Hollywood creates, those are artificial backlogs. There are Anna, Kamila, Sasha, Daria, Maiia, Lizas and all the other girls that I'll watch soon. There wasn't better figure skating competition ever.:cheer:
And considering the circumstances of covid and I shortened season and many skaters being sick it makes it even more incredible.

She made me cry as well. She's not my fav (although she is one of my favs) but I will always love that little firecracker. She skated the best I've ever seen her today.
Skating alike last year Sasha (expected to dominate the season) was really far from my ideal skater, but the moment things started to really go south for her (GPF and that terrible rusnat) i starter to strongly root for that little girl, expected by anyone to move mountains with a jump but locked into an endless fight with herself.

Wow, this kind of thing is now being celebrated? Some people live in the reality where diseases and long term health issues are being taken seriously, others... live in a fantasy world where it's all about princesses on ice, evil figures ( "haters") and heroes... :palmf:
Well both Eteri "the Witch" and Plushenko "the princess kidnapper" should be on the dark side :ROFLMAO:
I will keep granpa Mishin on the light side tough.

Kamila, finally a 100% clean skate whit 2 quads, showed that she does not need her 3A to win the quad queen ... she is today together with Anna the most serious candidate for the Olympics.
You could never stop pushing if you want to be number one so, if she can she need another quad and the trixel.
Do you think she was happy today? I don't think so: she was to win as everybody at her level does

This 100%
People were worried about Sasha, Anna and Liza because there was cause for worry. They all competed sick/injured. That they managed to do so well regardless was not a given. They could also have fallen and seriously injured themselves. And we also don‘t know the long-term effects this might have on their health. Just because they did well and proved their fighting spirit, does not mean it suddenly wasn‘t reckless. It was and it‘s okay to point it out. I think these two statements can exist at the same time:

1. Anna, Sasha and Liza overcame themselves and showed tremendous courage and spirit

2. For their overall health, it would have been better to withdraw and give their body a chance to heal

Congrats to everyone, though! Anna, Sasha, Kamila  Daria for not folding under the pressure after these three skates. Nugumanova for (hopefully!) achieving her goal of making the National team. Talalaikina and Samodurova for wonderful performances.

It was a lovely evening indeed. :)

I saw nothing out of ordinary in his behavior. :slink:

No, honestly, doping accusations are serious business, I wouldn’t make them based on nervous girls at a terrifyingly fierce competition being wide-eyed.

As for the judging.. I‘m too tired to look at the protocols now because I know they‘ll give me a headache. Just one thing: With how incredibly these three skated (and all landed two quads!), there should be less difference between their scores.
This. 100 times this!!

I think I have never seen Team Tutberidze as emotional as after Anna's skate...?
At the Olympics I saw Eteri touched after Evgenia's free and one other time while Alina was skating a SP after her mother had passed, but this today?
Eteri and Daniil crying, Dudakov fist pumping in 3 different directions, a group hug - it really goes to show what a difficult journey it must have been for Anna to skate tonight and how much the whole team had invested into making happen exactly what happened. What a moment!

Agreed!! Other than the Olympics the only other time I can think of is after Alina's SP skate at the GPF's last year when I don't think anyone thought she could skate as well as she did. That SP was amazing.

Anna's quads have been scoring well internationally actually and other than one competition she doesn't usually get called on them. Also she has a much more stable 4F now. Also, Sasha's second 4Lz could have been called today too.
Sasha's second 4Lz was about as rotated as Anna's 4F. Both were borderline or on the quater as worst.
Anna's 4Lz wasn't past the quater or even on the quater. Internationally it'd get <.

Can't help feeling a bit bad for Sasha though.
When I saw her hit a clean FS I thought: That's it, Valieva will be too nervous and make mistakes again, Anna will not pull off two 4s.
Then Valieva brings the house down: Damn Kamila, what a night for you, this must be the gold!
Then Anna: ... Russian Skating is insane.

All 3 of those skates were Olympic Gold Medal worthy. People have won it with so much less. *Bowing down*

It was, indeed: Anna Shcherbakova: "On the day of the FS, everyone suggested that I WD - both my coaches and my parents. But I didn't change my decision."
“My decision to perform was made a month ago. Since then, I have not changed my mind.

But during this time, after unsuccessful training skates, after the short programme here, after the six-minute warm-up, on the day of the free skate, everyone here suggested that I WD - both my coaches and my parents. But I didn’t change my mind,” Shcherbakova said.

Made of steel, no, new metal - Shcherbakovium :)
