I think it's funny that we call her little Liza (although I know where it originates from), as if she isn't 2 years older than Sasha and Anna and 4 years older than Kamila, Daria, and Maiia who will be her direct competitors next year. She's Alina's age who apparently is "old and doesn't have fun competing." She's Sofia's age who also apparently has "hit her peak due to circumstances and will never reach that level again."
It is amazing.

I just differentiate as the younger liza not to confuse anyone.. I hope they all scape for as long as possible because they bring a lot to the sport And if they are not tier one Russian ladies so what.
Well seeing as Sofia's birthday is July 7 and she turned 13 July 7, 2020 she definitely wouldn't make the team as she's not age eligible for Junior Worlds - if it wasn't cancelled.
You've got to be kidding? Eteri needs to storm the ISU offices and straighten a few things out like that stupid July 1st birthday date card off. ;)

Alysa Liu won us senior nationals at
13 with an August birthday.

Maria winning worlds in 1999 was fantastic. She was always swimming against the current in her career so to speak. I was so disappointed when she finished 4th at the 1998 Winter OlympicsI mean is there a worse spot in figure skating than 4th?
She was robbed of a bronze medal! And as Eurosport said back then, she skated first in the short, which is "the kiss of death".
And in the free she lost the medal with 4 judges to 5. Sooo close.

Maria has a husband and children now so things are good life matters more but yes I too think she should have won bronze in 98 Olympics.

Who got the bronze?

Chen Lu of China. Lovely skater, but unfortunately, she robbed Maria. Or more accurately, the judges robbed Maria.

Were they out of punish Russia because they were so great in the other 3 disciplines?

LOL! I really can't remember. And I might be a bit biased here as Maria is my all time favourite skater... ;) ;) ;)

Partially.
The talks about too many Soviets, too many Russians were all the time for last 40y.
The first was to move ladies to the last after all others took their medals.
Long ago the ladies were first to go, the dances were last. When Soviets settled the dances and men at the same time ISU pushed ladies back.
The nightmare happening in 1999 made ISU look stupid.

Maria wasn’t robbed of anything. Lu Chen was a beautiful skater. I met Maria after she won Worlds. She was very shy and absolutely shocked that she had fans here. Her coach on the other hand was not as friendly and shy 😂

Rostelecom, the main sponsor for the federation, apparently pays them about $2 million a year if google's currency conversion is accurate.

How far behind a jump (in time) need a moving element like an ina bauer or a spreadeagle be, in order not to be counted as an entrance transition, or discounted as unconnected to the jump that follows? Is this set out precisely in the judging rules or does it depend on each judge's perception? (and I suppose a similar question about the exit transition element). I hope I have asked this question clearly.

Step sequences often end with a transition into something like a spin, but you sometimes see the step sequence score posted what seems to be prematurely, in the sense that the score is posted, and then the skater does some interesting step movements, which are "too late" to be counted. This is my perception, at least. What is the rule or convention for judges to identify (the beginning and in particular) the end of the step sequence?

I believe skater 9 (Alisa) is the young Eteri girl who showed the 4T, I’m interested to see how she does here. She seems quite promising.
