2021 Russian Junior Nationals Day 2

When I see Minchuk I alway think of that story when he and Ksenia Stolbova skated together as teenagers. Big time personality clash, she whacked him one after an argument.
Then she got paired with Fedor and later said that she and Minchuk were shouting at each other all the time, then she hit that wall of silence and a boy who'd walk away when she got stroppy.
I love them both so much!!!! :giggle:

Could teaching Ted Barton how to pronounce Russian last names be a real job?? Cause I'm up for It!! 😁

Such a stark difference compared to how the National Hockey League commentators have their Russian name pronunciations down. 😄
Big time! They are pros and know what they're doing and know their players. Ted know's sweet FA about the skaters.

Come on though surely Ted is more bearable than T Tarasova's breathtaking hypocrisy in announcing which skaters are too fat. 😠

It is strange that pairs seems to be the least "popular" of the 4 disciplines. 😨

I reckon the biggest issue is the amount of technical restrictions imposed by the ISU which impedes technical breakthroughs. When was the last time you saw a 3ATh or a sbs triple+triple? 🤔😐

What do you guys think?

It's because Pairs is just kind of dull outside the top Pairs, IMO. It's hard to watch outside of the very top few.

Good question. Maybe it has something to do that it lies somewhere in the middle of the two opposites of figure skating: It is not as artistic/romantic as ice dance and it does not have the ultra-difficult quads and 3As as men and nowadays ladies have. But in my view the throws and twists fill the latter slot quite well, and depending on the event I sometimes like pairs better than men.
