No argument there. It definitely was. I was kind of wary of it but then it started and it was so fun and enjoyable. Until suddenly it wasn't.

What I meant was I hope that Alina doesn't participate in that type of thing in the future. We will see.

I think it became clear that Zhenya still feels the loss (and probably always will) and to some degree envies Alina's position as "Olympic Champion" and the fact that Alina is regarded to be the more classical beauty. I don't think it's a coincidence that she proudly mentioned that she came up with all the ideas herself whereas Alina once again was helped by Eteri and Daniil.

Alina probably still envies Zhenya for being more well-spoken or extroverted (which makes her a better presence on tv than Alina who is still way more reversed).

They both clearly carry scars from Pyongyang and them being part of the same team again is probably not helping (Eteri was allegedly the one who had the idea for this tournament hence I don't know if she will put their mental well-being or the cash first).

Does anybody know when or if "Champions on Ice" will take place?

I hope they're sensible with Sasha next year. I doubt they'll keep the Romeo and Juliet, I dont think its gotten rave reviews. I've said I hope they keep the short and keep working on her facial expressions, no need to start from square one again. For the long, I would ditch the attempt at elegance because she's going to be focused on her jumps no matter what. I'd just go for full on dynamic and let her do her thing.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something that brings out the smiley/playful side of Sasha's personality in the short. The long will undoubtedly be a warrior program, but I think she could portray something fun well too,

Yes, what is it with Russian men and Queen? Given the cultural values in Russia, Queen doesn't seem like the most likely choice and, yet, it felt like there were a thousand programs to Queen this year. There is a lot of great music, be creative Russian choreographers!

Anna is the only senior that doesnt have to go because she already made the team. But I assume she'll go anyways because she's competitive. The Juniors also technically don't have to go because they won't make the world team anyways but I assume they'll go for the same reason.

Kamila, it’s probably not necessary for her to go. She’s likely not going to land 2*3A in the FS by Cup Final, she already performed her maximum at 1tv Cup per Daniil; and IF she doesn’t land 3A in SP and FS (the content she did last week), it might ruin the strong impression she gave last weekend.
So if I were her, I would skip it and just prepare for the next season and further improve consistency on 3A.

Daria and Maiia will probably go. Maiia needs it more than Daria.

Yes, I think Anna and Kamila would be wise not to go, especially Kamila.
But I honestly think Eteri will send them all. They are very big on gaining competitive experience over making certain impressions.

Sasha probably needs to go to be sure to take the worlds spot. Kamila and Anna don't have a reason to go unless thay would be "invited" the way it can't be refused. Esp. Anna should take a little rest now. Unless, again, she would like to try three quads in a competition or something like that.

As for Maiia and Daria, not sure, but for them it could be a big chance for a medal, esp. for Dasha.

But still the primary thing at the Cup Final should be to finalize team for worlds.

I think it's inaccurate rumour mongering; Aliona posted a video of herself running through her SP step sequence on 25 January, and on 28 January she had the post with Alexander Lakernik. Seems more logical to assume she was training and skating in January, than to assume she bounced back onto the ice on 25 January after a month off and delivered a sharp step sequence.

Doesn't Sasha have to go? She doesn't officially have a World team spot. And why wouldn't Kamila go? She has a great chance at winning and it's another chance to practice competing the axel before next season when it counts.

Ahh I've replayed Sasha's JWC short a thousand times. It was so fun and playful and so perfect. I wish she'd do smth fun for her SP too. I think she fits the fun and warrior type style without trying too hard. With the elegant concept, although I've really enjoyed her SP this season and it has shut up a lot of haters and her PCS have improved tremendously, you can tell she's trying to concentrate to deliver it well.

I guess you think there's a little bit of Overkill of R&J.

I think Anna would be great with R&J. But I certainly don't think she would have it in an olympic year.

If anyone can handle it it's Anna. The battles between her and KV will be very interesting and probably very close.

I hope Anna does not skate in the Russian Cup Final that she rests up and get stronger for the world championships. If she loses to KV in the Russian Cup final which is possible then that could hurt her going into Worlds.

I'd love Sasha to skate a SP to 'Play Destroy' by Poppy (or any song by Grimes), and a FS to 'La Javanaise' by Madeleine Peyroux. It would be challenging for her to have the opposite approach from this year (soft lyrical free, warrior badass short), but Play Destroy is such a fun and contrasted music, that reminds a bit of her Unstoppable EX but with a different, darker and more playful vibe, it would suit her so well. Any upbeat, punk rock music Iveth Toth style would be amazing for her.

But I don't think it would be a great idea to do this kind of program experiments especially on the eve of the Olympics so I'll just stick to my dreams and enjoy all the progress she's made on PCS and choreo so far x) I do agree that Game of Survival would be pretty cool SP too.

What I would love even more would be better programs for Anna. I really started rooting for her last year because both her programs were great, different from each other and suited her performance ability so well. This year they're just too bland and similar to me, I can't bring myself to enjoy her skating as much as I used to. I'd love her to skate a FS based on Camille Claudel (with music from the 1988 movie ). Physically speaking Kamila ressembles Camille Claudel more but since they've set their minds on Bolero, well x)
