She does. She'd be setting the precedent that it's OK for her skaters to change coaches and return to her if things happen to not work out.

But the thing is the only person actually hurt by this whole event in the end is Alena. She left and got into a new training situation, realized that despite whatever was wrong in her previous camp it was worth it, and is now trying to come back. Alena is the one who looks silly for leaving and wanting to come back. It actually makes Eteri look better because, despite whatever issues people bring up, ultimately, she is the one they trust to help them when things go sideways.

If anything Alena and Evgenia (to a lesser extent) leaving and returning serves as a cautionary tale to anyone else who wants to leave. "Don't bother. You'll be back."

The upcoming worlds are the moment of truth for Trusova/Pluschenko duo. If she bombs she can still recover next year being jumping genius. It will be hard though when 6 top Eteri's skaters compete with you. So she needs that podium although life won't end if she doesn't get one. But Plushy's reputation as a coach will be ruined if Sasha somehow doesn't get a medal. The tension is growing. Let's also not forget about Rika who will have the chance for redemption after Saitama. What a dramatic event we are going to have!

What does the powerful CSKA in all that drama? A few years ago skaters were running to CSKA.
Is it not that powerful anymore or Buyanova succeeded to destroy its image by failing with 4 talented skaters?

Funnily, i think Buyanova suits more Kostornaya. At least on the artistic part. She won't get the 3A back but can fight to maintain 7 triples, skate programs that use her strengths and still get above 35 and 70 PCS

The thing is, Eteri is in a position of power here - she knows Aliona will have no one if she refuses to take her in. Where should she go? Back to Plushenko‘s? I doubt he‘ll forgive such a move and Aliona wasn‘t high on his priority list before that anyway.

Eteri, on the other hand, has zero need for Aliona. Some have cited Zhenya‘s move to her - that‘s different. Zhenya was like their poster child for many, many years and she moved back in a time when Eteri had actually need for her to restore her reputation after both Aliona and Sasha left. Now, the only reason to take Aliona back would be to further humiliate Plushenko - but Eteri has won that “war“ a long time ago anyway. Aliona is injured, already 17, and not that likely to sustain TeamTutberidze‘s methods all too long. If Eteri accepts, Aliona can prepare herself for a hard time. If she doesn‘t...well, that‘s even worse. What other coach is there, that would take her? And she‘d have to adjust to new methods, people and a new environment all over again, in the Olympic season no less...

Can‘t believe I‘m saying this but at this point I‘m almost desperately hoping Eteri takes her back.
with Aliona EG would have 5 girls for 3 spots. Plus Zhenya if she gets healthy and scores 230 again.

Does she need alona back at TT? No. But it wouldn't make TT ladies team stronger especially if she gets her triple axle back?

Aliona is a chatterbox and she probably had no one to talk to at PA. No girls anyway. That won't be an issue at TT.

Remember at test skates when Elena ilinykh gave her motherly hugs and big sister Like hugs when Alona was struggling? That was nice. Where was she in the Russian Cup Final as aliona was struggling in her biggest event of the Year desperately trying to make the worlds team?
Elena was on vacation time I guess. I don't know what's going on at that Academy.

But I'm glad you've come to the conclusion that Evgenia and Aliona need to be back at TT. :)

Whatever happens I hope aliona gets healthy and has a great season in the Olympic season.

I think that Eteri might take her back. If Aliona improves even 0.1%, people will be talking about how much better a coach Eteri is than Plushenko. If the Eteri camp manages to get her 3A back, it'll be a big deal.
If she gets triple axle back aliona is in the mix for the Olympic team next year. No matter who is coaching her.

One reason Eteri might refuse Aliona is to make it clear that she doesn't want this situation happening on the regular, where students leave her on bad terms and then are accepted back when they come begging. My heart would break for Aliona if Eteri decided to set an example. It would be humiliating, and she would be left stranded without a coach.
She wouldn't really be "left stranded without a coach", she herself left both Eteri and now Plushenko/Rozanov. At some point, it's on the person leaving no?

Buianova's been pretty successful with little kids lately, right? CSKA's doing better with young age groups than they've in a very very long time.

The main thing for Eteri for next season is to have 3 Eteri girls to the olympics. Can Alena push Alexandra out of the 3rd spot? With injuries, COVID etc I cant see her returning to how she was when she was with Eteri and beating Alexandra. Would be better dedicating that time to helping Maia solidify her 2 quads or Daria on her 4s and 3a. I mean if Eteri feels she can return Alena back to her original state, maybe it would be a good option. But I dont see how Plushenko will want her back now. She's literally destroyed his greatest possession. His ego.

This report didn't come from Plushenko but rather the head of Sambo70. Her health appears to be very bad indeed. Stress fractures, COVID-19, and apparent angina as a result of COVID-19. I couldn't care less who coaches Aliona but that didn't sound like a physical condition compatible with training.
It came from Telegram channel Lapidarnst, not Laishev, he said nothing about her shape. Not that it matters, with 200 articles in the same topic, who said what isn’t even clear anymore.

Uh, did I say it's not? The point of what I said is that she would be left without a coach, but good on you for making this about who's to blame.

But I'm glad you've come to the conclusion that Evgenia and Aliona need to be back at TT. :)

Lol. I certainly have not “come to that conclusion“, at least not with Evgenia. Her situation was unique, she couldn‘t return to her training base and online coaching wasn‘t working for her + the fact that she was skating at CSKA as a guest, a situation that couldn‘t go on forever. She did the most sensible thing for both her competitive, as well as post-competitive, career when the pandemic forced her hand. If it wasn‘t for that, she‘d be training at TCC and there would be no need for her to go anywhere. But things happened as they did and she‘s back now. If she‘s happy - good! I certainly wish it for her.

With Aliona, it admittedly is a little different. The gamble with Plushenko didn‘t work out and Rozanov couldn‘t help her restore her jumps. It‘s debatable how much of this is influenced by her health condition but it‘s clear, IMO, that the academy doesn‘t have much of a plan when it comes to her. And generally, there seem to be lots of internal and structural problems there. So, what should she do? Probably, sticking it out with Rozanov would be better, as this continuous drama can only hurt her. But if she has to change coaches again, Tutberidze really is the only option. Otherwise Aliona would have to adjust to a completely new environment, new people and methods - and in the Olympic season at that.

I hope Tutberidze accepts her, not because I‘m hopeful she‘ll be able to help her much (remember, Aliona is already 17 and chronically injured - that‘s like a recipe for disaster everywhere but especially in TeamTut) but because she‘ll be even worse off if she doesn‘t. She burnt her bridges at Plushenko‘s and she wasn‘t a high priority there to begin with. I wonder where her parents are in all of this. It‘s normal for a 17 year old not to be able to foresee all the complications and conflicts but they really should have known better. The whole situation, frankly, is a mess. Even if Aliona gets accepted by Eteri, those will be some very hard and painful and humiliating next few months. And that‘s best case scenario...

I read somewhere that Ilynkyh has left AoP now?

The current coaching situation didn't appear to be working for Aliona, good luck to her and I just hope we get to see her skating again next season!
