2021 Worlds: Ladies' Short Program

Also, I think Kihira's skating skills clearly are overrated. Watched the step sequence with thought and I think she constantly is losing momentum, not maintaining edges. Compare to Shcherbakova at the end of her step sequence for example. Shcherbakova also is quite a bit faster throughout. Shcherbakova has deeper edges, holds them better and with more control. Can't see how Kihira has superior skating skills. Now watching them back to back, Kihira looked like she was skating in mud in comparison.

For Trusova i've to say a little unexpected mistake cause she nailed the 3ltz-3t all season, the question was always more on the quads and the 3a.

She can win the free skate.

For Miyahara i can't say this was a big surprise, since they've started to change her technique, more mistakes have started to appear. Maybe she should go back to the old tiny jumps cause at least they were landed.
She can probably pull off a Nathan Chen at the Olympics and win the free but I don't see her catching Anna or a cleanish Rika. Possibly she can catch Liza.

Just because the judges do that doesn't mean they are right. We have eyes.
You have eyes to see how Sasha improved in a year, but you can't see how Anna improved exactly the same amount in that same year. I don't think judges 'hate' Japanese skaters, the very reasonable explanation is that they just not in a competitive shape as Russians are, due to lack of competitions this year. EDIT: You can see that Koreans were in a better shape too, because they had some competitions just before the Worlds.

No, I think Satoko just needs time to adjust to the height. The technical change may bear fruit by next year.

I don't give bonus points for where someone ranked last year or for what country they're from.
You may not but the judges do. Reputation judging is always a problem in any judged sport like FS, gymnastics or even diving. Don't get me started on dressage. It's practically a popularity contest.

Although I dont know why she repeatedly gives a flirty smile to the judges in the middle of the program.
I think that's more of an awkward introvert's smile (I giggle every time I see her doing it lol) that is planned like a choreo element :ROFLMAO:

They also don't have a judge on the panel. Although..I'm not sure that's a terrible thing for them in some cases. Domestically the judges love Kaori more than everyone else, including Rika. (And I do love both.)

Yeah I agree re Miyahara's problems on trying to get her jumps higher. Even without obvious mistakes, Miyahara's PCS can't compensate for the high flying tech ability of other ladies. But still, on her best day, Miyahara would be in the top ten.

If Trusova gets it altogether in the fp, she can maybe make the podium, if others give her a little room with mistakes. Are you saying that because Trusova has such quad-ability, the sp score doesn't matter? And you think she can just blast through from 12th to 1st place? I'm not sure about that because she may not get the PCS even if she lands her quads.

I was taking about how I scored her. 35 and change.

Anna improved. Her edges are better. Her spins are more centered. However, the basic skating is still the weakest of the top group and her PCS didn't reflect that. Anna is great. I am complaining about the judging.
