2021 Worlds: Pairs Short Program

I don't know if this is still true or not but Somewhere over the Rainbow is the most covered song in history.
I looked it up. Over the Rainbow is currently at #9.

1. is Eleanor Rigby; 2. is Yesterday. 4. is And I Love Her; 8. is Blackbird. All Beatles credits, but #s 1, 2 and 8 are by Paul McCartney.

Is it? Theres still 8 teams to go. They could end up 9th and 10th. Who have they beaten so far that you wouldnt expect?
It's more like, usually American teams has metldown, but they did quite good. Not that it didn't happen before, but both teams might still advance, and I kind of expect them to.

In here late, can someone quickly tell. me how Knirem and Frazier did? Did one of them fall?
Here are Jackie Wong's comments. Brandon doubled his 3T to a 2T, slight touch down by Alexa on the throw.

Alexa Knierim/Brandon Frazier USA - 3Tw, sbs3T(F 2T), thr3Lo(ftdwn?)

Knierim/Frazier also had Level 1 footwork, per Hersh.

(I assume credentialed media -- including those working remotely -- have access to real-time judging/calling?)

ETA:

Sorry, never mind. Per protocol, K/F received Level 3 for footwork.

Thanks to Arriba for the alert.

Ash & Tim are an exciting team, but they need to hit everything for the judges to even give them high 60s as stingy as the judging can be. They looked so fit and ready. I hope both C-G/L and K/F have got their nerves out. Don't even worry about three spots now, as that's probably out of reach with these sp efforts by both teams. If you don't give it your all then you're at the mercy of the judging and having to rely on other teams making mistakes -- not a good thing to rely on.

But it's been a difficult season, so we'll see how the final two groups will hold up. The Russian teams have had the most competition under their belts, so at this point it is entirely possible for a Russian sweep if all three of those teams are on. Or most likely one of the Chinese teams edging in there for the podium.

The Americans have to hope the Austrians and top Italian team aren't on their game. In the past, the Austrians have tended to be around high 50s to low 60s, but with their veteran status and improvement, if they skate well they may be given the marks. I don't think their skating or elements are of better quality than either American team.

But quite clearly both American teams under-performed here in the sp. Is it possible to hope they can both skate lights out in their fps???

The U.S. ladies appear to have more chance for 3 spots for the Olympics than the pairs do at this point. :(

Oh, but I'm happy if the U.S. ladies pull out that third spot with good placements after the fp.

So far for me a bummer in pairs though.

I thought Mark Hanretty said that initially it showed Lev 1 and was then changed to Lev 3. I could be wrong. That was over an hour ago. I can't remember what happened 10 minutes ago! :) I'm goin' on 4 hours sleep! We'll have to check the protocols.
