2021 Worlds: Pairs' Free Skate

I agree. M/G did a terrific job. Did I enjoy the artistry of their skate as much as S/H? No I did not. Others might feel differently. I still think M/G were, in all likelihood the correct winners.

Sui needs to get a second triple. B/K need a new Free as they have outgrown this one.

I also think it's important to see the amount of competition readiness M/G and B/K had vs S/H. I think that too made a difference.
I think S/H also need some changes. Maybe skating to some upbeat music. Something different in their programmes and the elements, whatever that is. Watching them this time i felt as i already saw all of that in the past. Nothing new, just same old, same old. While M/G looked as a dish of breath air comparing to them. I bet some judges thought the same (with both S/H and T/M), and you need to reward creativity (as one of the defining parts of artistic impression) in the elements/components-composition after all.

Based on WHAT?

I watched M/G and they were so good it broke my heart for T/M.

I can accept that T/M aren't ever going to win Worlds or Olympics it's a bitter pill to swallow.

S/H have two World golds, an Olympic silver AND are the undoubted favourites for 2022.

I mean geeze, for real?! I would give anything ANYTHING for T/M to have even half S/H success.

It's pure entitled greed.
ANd I was heartbroken at Olympics, so what?... Who said they're going to win next one? Who is going to give them that for FREE? For the record, I like T/M. The most out of all current Russian team, I wish them bigger succes as well. I'd be happier if they were the ones to win, but they failed and they knew it. But what does that have to do with anything? What T/M failure to fully use their potential has anything to judges scoring? Because I do not see correlation. lt look like you're venting on the fans that their fave team has more success than your own. I'm S/H fan, I do not think they should have scored higher. They weren't clean, M/G were, and it was reflected in TES score, as it should. But PCS scoring is kind of joke for a long time now, why can't people complain about it?

Well, honestly anyone who crucifies them must be a better person than me. I‘ve been salty for less dramatic things than losing Worlds. Was it in bad taste? Sure. But they‘re young and not everyone can hold their emotions in check during situations like these. They‘ll learn. I hope they don‘t change coaches, though. They had such a great season last year and M/G will have to deal with the pressure of being the favorites now first. Too early to throw in the towel.
True. It is also a matter of prior expectations, which were high for B/K. I still love her for eating ice-cream at one of Russian domestic events.

Guys.. dial back the rhetoric and keep it less personal.

Attacking the skaters is wrong. Attacking the fans of the skaters is also wrong.

Argue your points without bickering.

And keep in mind.. this was a weird season. The Canadians hadn't competed at all and the Chinese had barely competed. I truly think everyone was doing the best that they could. For M/G this is probably the highlight of their careers so far. We should, at least on some level, recognize that and not let our dismay that the judges make us say stupid things like "They have no artistry" or "They can't win because they are only one year out of juniors".

Tone it down some of you.

And I'm gonna get in trouble but I don't care.

Are you S/H fans gonna take a leaf out of the Yuna Kim fan's book?

Will M/G have to deal with SIX YEARS OF CONSTANT ABUSE for bearing your precious pair like Adelina Sotnikova?

Have the death threats started yet?

Nothing would surprised me anymore.

Um, can you calm down? Your bitterness towards S/H is getting a little much. They didn‘t even win lol.

M/G are more popular than B/K in Russia due to some past behaviour by Kozlovski which led people to believe he is way too full of himself. Galliamov at least has always been gracious publicly.
Oh, I know that at least in Russia they should (at least theoretically) be treated well, it's just that in some instances "fans" find the skaters' Instagrams and fill them with nasty messages, etc. I guess it's something you can't escape if you're a somewhat public figure, but after "controversial" results such as these, hatred might intensify. So, unless you're off social media, it's difficult to escape the outside world, even if people in your own country treat you right

Dude, Sui/Han already lost at the Olympics once by like less than a point. Nothing happened. Aljona and Bruno's program there deserved to win and is one of the all time greats. M/G also did fantastically today and have a bright future ahead of them, and I think B/K has even more potential than them (yesterday after the short I remarked that B/K could well become the next P/C if they could stay consistent).

Chill the heck out.

Agree, would prefer M/G placing ahead of S/H but with lower PCS than they got. That said, I might give a bigger TES gap between M/G and S/H because there is a very clear difference in the quality and difficulty in their SBS jumps, while all the other elements are comparable (S/H have smoother lifts, but M/G's 3S-1Eu-3s should outweigh that especially with Sui's URs). Which would overall lead to about the same gap in total scores that we see here.

Yes, the last 3 warm-up groups were all great! I managed to catch the event live around the time Walsh/Michaud skated and it was a nailbiter. Moore-Towers/Marinaro made an admirable comeback and Miura/Kihara are arguably the best Japanese pairs team ever (competition was lower in Takahashi/Tran's time). Ziegler/Kiefer's skate was also very uplifting. Sorry to see Tarasova/Morozov and Peng/Jin defeated by the SBS jumps though.
The UR is already fully deducted from S/H's score. And clearly S/H has bigger throws, but it's not reflected in the scores.
Remember S/H only loss less then 2 points in total finally, which actually should be covered by PCS. However, it's all about Russians.

Sui needs to get that second triple. Now with 2 Russian ladies who can do triple jumps easily it's points they can't afford to give away. The second triple has always been Sui's nemesis.
They need to up their game, I agree. They used to have quad twist, and Throw quad Sal I think. Maybe going back to that? Not sure it's possible though, considering health problems in the past.

PCS scoring is kind of joke for a long time now, why can't people complain about it?
Because it's only allowed for some? Like God forbid you think such and such a skater is better than this other one. God forbid you enjoy something different from S/H because their PCS is the only kind that matters right?

If you're not S/H you can just get f'ed.

And you can complain about PCS scoring without making disgusting comments like M/G have the worst components of the event. That's a bald face lie and you know it.

Is M/G's program comparable with what S/M did in 2018 Olympics..... That was a master piece. What M/G's program did today is just technically clean.

B/K went in as favorites for the title/medal. M/G had comparably much less pressure and were probably the Russian #3. It‘s still terrific what they managed to accomplish but they will find themselves in the position B/K were in today next year and we‘ll have to wait how they deal with it. Chasing is always easier than defending.

I wish both luck although undeniably my heart beats for B/K much, much, much more.

You guys you can cheer for Mishina and be delighted for her - I AM!! - without being petty towards Mirzoev.
You're right. She'll probably thank him for being honest with her and therefore freeing her. The very month they ended their partnership, Anastasia partnered with Alexandr. )

According to Wiki Nastia also said that there was too much day-to-day conflict in their (Mishina/Mirzoev) relationship.

I don't understand why anyone would take a comment that was made in the heat of the moment (which would have been a devastating one for B/K no doubt) and then imply that she is rude, or ungrateful, or a brat? I'm sure Moskvina knows her personality and knows how she deals with things. We don't - so I don't think its fair to paint Sasha as something she has never shown herself to be? Teams like B/K don't enter Worlds wanting to lose and so their upset and anguish is valid imo.
It's not a one-off occurrence as others pointed out above. Personally I didn't like the way Sasha chucked Dmitri's ID lanyard at him when she left KnC. Being open with your emotions isn't inherently wrong (Duhamel did that a lot) but blaming other people is not as constructive as, say, being introspective about what you could have done better.

Yes, Moskvina probably knows. She's a patient person and as long as B/K stick with her I'm sure they'll learn in time. But here and now they have some maturing to do.

Because in many cases, even like that, the gold winner is not controversial. But clearly not today.

Im so happy for M/G to win when T/M didnt deliver. Of the 3 emerging young Russian pairs (B/K and P/K) I feel like this pair has the best potential to become truly great.
Sure they need a bit more time before they skate with the overall PCS quality of T/M or S/H and where probably a bit overscored here in that department but since I feel that the tech panel was a bit lenient in Suis jumps I feel like the placement was correct even if maybe I would have had it a bit closer.
