Dasha Sadkova is 13! Happy birthday
(Same day as Tamara Moskvina BTW, who is 80 today!)
So, who shall create a FF for Dasha? (@Spirals for Miles , this is a call for help)
And we'll have to put her into the consciousness of hopefully top Russian ladies. So when someone posts "Daria lands a 3axel!!!" we might automatically assume it is Sadkova with her huge 2axel, much like Usacheva!

So this means DariaS is eligible for the JGP, right? Will she get an assignment?!?!? I feel there is MUCH more long term potential in her than say Elizaveta Berestovskaya.

She's in the national team in the category 11-17 (page 27), so she'll possibly get at least one spot, but it's not completely sure. First in the line are Akatieva, Petrosian, Samodelkina, Frolova, Muravyova and Berestovskaia and I bet the rest will get their spots according to the actual results during the JGP stages. Maybe the starting positions can be also corrected a little according to the test skates.
As for the Axel, yes, both Darias have superb 2A, and while it can't always be used as a prediction for acquiring a 3A, it surely is a good sign.

I don’t know if Daria Usacheva already landed a 3A without harness. She needs a 3A or a quad this season.
I want her to make the team but there are so many talented girls.
Can they send three for single and two other persons for the team ?
Nope, unfortunately not as of right now the skaters that compete in the team competition are from the same 'pool' that will later compete in the individual event, and I would be surprised to see if that rule ever changes
- From the athletes perspective: skaters from the big feds are almost a lock for winning a team Olympic medal, why would they support giving up pretty much a guaranteed medal?
- From the Fed perspective: there's likely an additional cost to send another athlete to the Games
- From a competition perspective: This is really only going to benefit really deep countries
- Not all Feds have the ability to field skaters for both the individual and team competition right now all skaters that compete in the Team competition are on equal footing going into the individual competition a little worn out.
- So there's a disadvantage if some Feds can field a very competitive group for the Team competition and the Individual competition
- Disadvantage that perhaps a Fed can't fill out an entire team so they are perhaps having to use a skater that is more worn out for the FS than another country that was able to have 1 competitor for each segment or at least for a couple of the disciplines (the current rule allows for 2 skater changes from the SP to the FS)
- Not all Feds have the ability to field skaters for both the individual and team competition right now all skaters that compete in the Team competition are on equal footing going into the individual competition a little worn out.
- From a general audience perspective there are maybe some benefits:
- forcing countries to use 1 set of athletes for the team competition and 1 for the individual might make the Team event more competitive so wouldn't be so much of the 3-4 country race (Canada, US, Russia) that it currently is.
- Trying to grow the sport, it might be good for casual fans to not see the same programs in the Team competition that they see in the individual competition a few days later
And honestly - how many countries are like the Russian ladies right now where there is this situation where even their second-string/back up skaters are completely capable of going up against the first-string skaters from any other country and beating them?

Nope. They can only send up to 3 people per discipline. For the team event, a country is allowed up to two substitutions, but only if they have enough people.
So in up to two disciplines, one skater/team can skate the short, and another skater/team can skate the free. It doesn’t matter which disciplines, but if you only have 1 skater/team in a discipline, then you can’t substitute.
Usually the Olympic team is defaulted to the World team however its not uncommon for skaters to skip post-olympics worlds but there's the add in that skaters who've never been to Worlds might not give up their spot regardless of the Olympic results and even Shcherbakova or Trusova who went to Worlds this year might not forego Words if Worlds next year is going to be a more normal competition.

While it would be nice for the 3 runners up at nationals to get to go to worlds, I doubt even one would get the chance unless there's an injury. Of the seven Olympic contenders, the only one I could possibly see making the olympic team and then passing on worlds would be Anna.

I agree. In case Anna would win or maybe would get a silver at the Olympics, I guess it is possible she would skip worlds as she's the world champion already. But she's also a fighter, so nothing certain.
I also think Liza would skip. At this point I think her only goal is to be an Olympian.

Oh my gosh, I was JUST thinking that same thing!! If Anna won OGM, I don't think she would or should go back to Worlds. She's won it all now. She's not a dominant gold medalist. Kind of like Lipinski. She thanked everyone for the memories after she got her Nationals, World, and Olympic titles and quickly ran off before her luck ran out.

I did a whole thing about it on this forum for every discipline. I Can’t remember which thread though I’ll try and find it There are very few in any of the disciplines, except for ice dance, because it wasn’t an official Olympic event until the 1970’s even though it had been a world event for many years. Also, in the earlier years, a lot of NOC’s didn’t send athletes to the Olympics, so there were very few competitors. But still, those who’s country sent a team all went.

She went. She didn’t medal, but she went.
Aside from those who had exceptions that I mentioned above, all the ladies’ World Champions have gone.
Liza and Anna (obviously) are the only two who haven’t gone.

I'd imagine you started the list just thinking about what World Champions didn't win Gold at the Olympics and then you could quickly figure out who didn't even go to the Olympics just with that knowledge. If you find that link, please share!!!
