Unless you mean something else, Nugumanova doesn’t qualify for returning skater clause.

Isn’t it weird that Anna didn’t get Rostelecom, she had first pick didn’t she?

Anna has a huge fan base in China, they love her there (the darn judges didn't though), so she probably chose China as her first pick. Then Liza got 2nd pick and probably chose RC so Anna couldn't choose that.

Interesting anomalies...
Safonova didn't get a GP spot. That positive COVID test in Stockholm was really unfortunate for her. She is also the highest on the SB list from 2019-2020 (29th) that didn't get a spot. Technically Tarakanova is placed higher at 25th, but we all know Russia has too many ladies.
Glenn got two spots although she isn't in the Top 24 in the SB or the WS list.
Schizas got a spot besides SC.
Mihara got a spot although she is not in any Top 24 list.

So happy for Ksenia! She gets a chance to show the world how amazing of a skater she is. She had the second highest score amongst Juniors behind Kamila and she is now getting close to landing a 4T. I love the fact that Panova will have a skater to get behind in the Senior Circuit.
Also, Anastasia Tarakanova must have been so close to getting a spot. She was 24th until Junior Worlds had Maia bump her down the list to 25th. Maia finished 24th and I think that Junior Worlds performance placing her 24th in the World Standing gave her the one spot. I think the Russian Cup wild card spot is left open for someone that might outskate Maia in the Russian Cup series. If nobody shows up, then they will most likely give it to Maia. As for NHK, please at least give the spot to Tarakanova rather than nobody. She could use the opportunity as she had three solid years in the Junior Circuit. Else, she could be facing extinction in this tough Russian field.

I don’t think that Russia can just add someone in at NHK. Japan gets to, because they are the host, the same way Russia gets to at Rostelecom.
I think that day has already came and went at least really for any serious competitions; she's not doing as difficult programs as the top junior skaters (certainly not in the senior ladies) and honestly when talking about technical elements while everyone else is pushing forward, she's stepping back. When she was with Eteri several years ago she was back-loading nearly everything, this season in her SP she didn't backload her combination and she didn't even attempt a triple-triple, in her FS she only did 1 triple-triple.
An easy podium spot? She's landed her quads once in competition and she won't have the PCS forgiveness that Shcherbakova/Valieva have and she doesn't have the quantity of quads to throw like Trusova.

Quiet strange that they have decided to give 2 spots to Ksenia and only 1 to Maya. Are we supposing that TBA spot will go to her?
I think, bearing injury and meltdowns, Kamila, Sasha and Anna have a very comfortable way to the final.
Darya has very good chances as well.
Then between Alena, Liza, Maya if she gets the spot, and Rika or another Japanese, I wouldn't know who to bet on for the last tickets. Although IF the 3A is back, it should be Alena for one of them.

They have obviously merged the Seasons Best List of 2020 and 2021, so Maiia actually falls down to 26th place while Ksenia is 12th. Most ladies in the Top 24 in the SB List and WS List got two spots, so it's not that strange that Ksenia got two.
Maiia will be on top of the Replacement List though, so if she not gets that host spot at Rostelecom she can get a spot at NHK if there is a wd there.
If the ISU do as they usually do, there will be an official Alternate List based on the SB list for replacements in case of any WDs.
For now, the Top 15 for Ladies looks like this:
1. Maiia Khromykh (has one GP)
2. Anastasia Tarakanova
3. Seoyeong Wi (has one GP)
4. Rino Matsuike (has one GP)
5. Alexia Paganini (has one GP)

The Ladies deciding their own spots is all in name only. I thought it was strange that Anna didn't pick Rostelecom as her first choice until I realised she didn't make any pick at all. The Feds just decide. If you look at Yuma Kagiyama, he didn't pick NHK either.... wonder why.
I'm not so sure. I think Anna might have picked China as she has fans there, and it is the place for the Olympics after all! Might have been a strategic choice.
The same goes for Kagiyama.

The place of the Olympics is an interesting point but I just checked...CoC is in a different city so not the same venue. But really, a Russian picking China before Russia because she has fans there, no way. She has lots of fans in Russia too.

I can't help but cry for tarakanova. I didn't expect her to receive a gp but I guess seeing it for real makes it real? She tries so hard. She has a gofundme and everything. She wants to stick around. She wants it so bad. I don't want to see her sobbing in the kiss-and-cry like after that jgp a few years back. But this sport is tough.
