The Russian ladies look wonderful, Sasha and Kamila have both really grown.
I just wonder why we aren't seeing any 3As in training? We know 4 of the girls have them(Kamila, Sasha, Sofia, kind of Aliona) so why not show one? Lots of beautiful 2As everywhere though.

I'm no fan of Eteri but I really hope she'll be able to get the best out of Sasha this time around. Her specialty is consistency and that's the only thing Sasha needs to win the Olympics. Kamila is obviously a more elegant skater, but at her best Sasha can out jump everyone in the world except maybe Nathan and Yuzuru.

I want to see those 3A's. I wonder if Sasha will be banned from 3A for consistency.

Forza Italia! :yahoo:
Not to rain on your parade but this is the Russian Women Figure Skating Forum, not the Italian Men Football thread.
----------

Do we know yet if Kamila will ditch the SP but keep the FS for next season in the end? There has been lots of talk about this. In a recent training vid she was doing Storm though?
And do we know if all programs will be done by Daniil? Averbukh has expressed interest in working with Anna for example (although please no, I almost prefer Daniil to that option)

0. Even though it was only a few blocks, my dad decided to take a taxi to dinner so we wouldn’t miss the penalty kicks :ROFLMAO:.

1. Valieva confirmed a while ago that she would be keeping Bolero for the Olympic season. No idea about the SP though.

2. Eteri sometimes helps with choreography, and I’d say she’s actually pretty decent at it considering some of the stuff she’s done in the past.

3. Aside from a little work done by Eteri, almost all the Team Tutberidze choreography is done by Daniil. But, as far as we know, Daniil needs to choreograph 11 programs, a SP and FS for Sasha, Daria, Maia, Anna, and Aliona, as well as a SP for Kamila. While they will probably reuse a few programs, that’s still a lot of programs to do.

4. Averbukh has worked with Team Tutberidze in the past, so he might be an option for a little bit of choreography

5. What is everyone‘s issue with Averbukh? (Is it the miming)

Everyone has been saying in the clips that have been shown that it looks like she's doing the Storm choreography. I hope they aren't repeating it as her SP and she's just keeping it as an exhibition. But it would seem stupid to be practicing an exhibition program or really any program right now that you aren't going to use for the Olympic season

2. Eteri sometimes helps with choreography, and I’d say she’s actually pretty decent at it considering some of the stuff she’s done in the past.

Most of her stuff has been juniors though right? I can't say I care for many of the programs that have been credited directly to her without another choreographer (whose actual job is choreographing)

They need to bring in other choreographers, Danill has too many skaters on his plate and its affecting the programs.

When was the last time though? I feel like he's not been involved with Team Tutberidze since Medvedeva left.

5. What is everyone‘s issue with Averbukh? (Is it the miming)

Averbukh has his great programs, his decent programs and his forgettable programs; I don't really get the hate on him. Which interestingly Wikipedia lists him as the choreographer of Samodurova's Burlesque, which I did not know he did that program. Shcherbakova is extremely musical and generally has really good interpretation, he could do well with her and has expressed a desire to work with her (though is he maybe just angling for a new star for his shows???) But Shcherbakova seems to have a really close relationship with Daniil, from what I remember he has generally always been at her competitions and is generally the coach at the boards giving her those 'final words' before she steps (or glides technically) away to start her program; would she want to step away from him? Team Tutberidze is pretty formulaic in that they know the rulebook backwards and forwards and give their skaters optimal programs to be able to win; it would surprise me if we see them bring in a choreographer that is strange to their current crop of skaters in the Olympic season.

Maya really loves her sp from last year, so she may keep it. that makes “only” 10 programs for Daniil, or maybe 9 if Eteri is doing the choreo for one of Sasha’s.

Mine yes. Others will have different reasons for liking or not liking his stuff. Although he did produce Yulia's Schindler's List which imo is one of the greatest programs ever, and at the same time he is the choreographer of Evgenia's miming theaters. So who knows how much was his input and how much came from the skater or the coach at the time.
However, I do prefer Daniil to him, especially for Anna. As others have stated above, Anna has a really close relationship with Daniil and I'd be shocked if anybody else but him did her Olympic programs. Maybe for Valieva or Kostornaya tho?

As for Valieva, at the end of the day, if she skates cleanly to her technical potential, nobody on the judging panel will care what music is playing in the background, neither will it impact her placement in a significant way. Focus on your 4T, 4S and 3A, keep the rest of your skating as it is and let your coaches put on whatever music as a backdrop. That's where FS is at now, whether we like it or not.

*if this translated correctly*

Medvedeva says she's not competing next season but not retiring

https://m.sports.ru/figure-skating/...to-ya-ne-vxozhu-v-sleduyushhij-sezon-no.html?
based on the translation, this seems more or less she is happy with what she's doing now. it doesn't sound too optimistic to me that she will return, it seems similar to what Zagitova has said about a possible return.

i think she could be pretty competitive still if she returned to form, but whatever makes her happy.

I’ve actually seen somewhere on another site that shows that one of the bits in choreography in the Team Tutberidze videos is an exact copy of some choreography that another Team Tutberidze skater skated to this season. Let’s see if I can’t find that video anywhere.
I saw something like that.
It was 5 sec, where Sasha did a loop and then did a certain pose. It then showed Daria doing a loop and her doing a slightly similar pose, because her leg was also back.
I mean… wow, look how recycled it is, they dare use loops. They probably also use Choctaws and mohauks in every program! Skating Diet Prada would’ve been furious :)

Its true about Kamila, she'll likely be getting the highest PCS both nationally and internationally regardless, just based on reputation. Whether her music is inspired or her choreography original is unlikely to make more than a fraction of a difference.
Just in general I'm not thrilled with any of the 3 new girls repeating programs. They're first year seniors and Olympic contenders. This could be the first and last time some of them are at the top of the field. How can a program put together for a junior season that barely existed be so brilliant that you're willing to let it be basically your whole career?
I know Daniil may be out of time and ideas, but that's Eteri's fault for annointing him #TheBestAndOnlyChoreographerInTheWorld. And again, the only people it matters to is the irrelevant audience. The scores will be awarded based on other criteria.
Not to sound too salty. Nobody enjoys watching a program they don't enjoy obviously. And I don't enjoy most of Daniil's programs, I find him rather glaringly unmusical. But it's more about the fact that these girls are all slated to have such short careers that it seems so cheap to me to shorten them further by repeating programs.

Danill has some good programs, the "issue" is they construct programs to get as many points as possible which doesn't necessarily mean highlighting the music well or really holding a move for more than a second.
