I just noticed that Frolova hasn't (and likely won‘t) received a JGP event yet. What‘s up with that? I thought she was one of the best at test skates and among the most mature/artistic juniors currently. Sure, she's "old" for Russian junior skaters but I think she was significantly better than, say, Kulikova who’s scheduled to perform at the home JGP. I feel sorry for Frolova since she‘s unlikely to get any senior events either.

Edit: Turns out she actually already has an event

She has though. She's currently on the entry list for the 5th event, in Slovenia.

Congrats to Zhilina, she skated better than I was expecting, and that dress was soooo pretty - also much better than I was expecting. Why in the world Plushenko would have her skate to Love Story right after Trusova did it is beyond me tho.
I agree with Fluture that Petrosian's FS music just robs her of what makes her special. She can convey a unique joy of skating similiar to Alysa Liu, so of course her team would ignore that completely and give her the same emo ballads they'd give anyone else.. Again, giving her the same music Kostornaia skated to last year is both completely inexplicable and completely expected from them.
Muravieva is easily becoming the skater I'm looking forward to seeing the most in the future. I think she has an artistic talent that, similar to Kostornaia, can shine through whatever poor music choices her coaches and choreographers give her. Not that I though the GG was terrible.

I love Adelia too ! But this FS music isn't do any favor for her. Really sad that her team give her a billie eilish music. Come on ! this girl deserve better music. Poor girl to have to skate to this horrible music each day in her practice. She deserve better music, she has it factor ! And, she remind me a little Medvedeva.

Unfortunately, I would be willing to bet she likes the it, after the first senior nationals that Shcherbakova, Trusova and Kostornaia swept the podium, they did an interview and all stated they liked Billie Eilish.

Congratulations to all three medalists, but on particluar to Sofia and Veronika, I really rooted for those two and I am really happy they have both made it. Sofia was just exquisite while Nika... oh, I am so happy she had these two clean great perfomances and landed all her amazing jumps, it must have been such a confidence boost for her. I am not sure if anyone mentioned, and please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that with this competition Veronika has just had the highest scoring international junior debut in FS history, dethroning Anna Shcherbakova who had held the record until today. No wonder, her tech was simply amazing, not just for a debutante. Congratulations once again!
And BTW, I have not seen Veronika's mother at the boards and Dima was listed and present as her second coach. I have not been following FS much in the off season - has anything changed in that department and she is not co-coached by her mum anymore?

Wow, I just watched Adeliia's free and while the program is not my favorite, I absolutely love how dynamic she is! Also her use of arms, gorgeous 😍 And as expected, great spins too. Congrats on the sweep to Russian girls :hap10:

Do we know Daniil did all the programs, Sr and Jr?
He normally does. Eteri sometimes helps too. Several years ago, Averbuk did some choreography for Team Tutberidze, but I haven’t heard of anyone recently.

She’s like 13/14 years old. Liking Billie Eilish is perfectly normal and fine.

I didn't say it wasn't normal/fine, quite the opposite - my reply that she unfortunately probably liked the music was to someone who commented that the poor girl had to skate to that music everyday in practice. However I do find billie eilish "music" to be absolutely dreadful and a pathetic excuse for music and haven't been bashful about my disdain for it being involved in high level figure skating.

What I find unique in Adelya, it was the speed she covered on the ice when she skate, incredible speed in all the program, the speed with the transition was awesome !

Congratulations to all the girls!
Who can win big prizes? Ultimately the quads/3A girls with clean skate and/or good packages. In this competition, Veronika had the quads and skated clean, so she won. Very happy for her.

I am not worried about Adeliya at all. We started seeing her only last season (?), and were impressed by her unique charm/energy. This season she added a quad, a big step for her. She might not get full attention this season due to the obvious, like other juniors. However, if she can stabilize the quad, probably add some more, then she will be doing great next season.

I think she's still coached by Plushy and her mum Alferova, per Instagram and her ISU bio. Maybe it wasn't convenient for her mum to travel? Dmitri actually didn't appear by the boards pre/post-skate, although he did with Sofia.

This competition relly was a huge redemption both for Zhillina but also for Plushenko. For Zhillina to skate two programs with only two elements with negative GOE (both being quads with slightly wonky landings) and some lost levels in the step sequence is not what I expected after the inconsistent mess she was for mosst of last season. So good job to her and her team for working on that consistency I was verry happy to be proven wrong. Jump and spin wise she was clearly the best here but I do hope they will work on her skating and performance which still lacks a bit of maturity (shes 13 so they still have time obviously).
Sofia Muravieva was probably the one I enjoyed watching the most here. Sure she is not as good of a jumper as the other russians here and the quad is probably far off but her skating and performance was clearly the class of the field.
Also after Plushenkos rather failed season as a coach last year with the Trusova and Kosornaia situation and Zhillinas inability to perform this competition must feel verry nice for him. First and second in ladies as well as first in mens! Hopefully its an indication that he has his school more in order this season.

Petrosyan was slightly underwhelming here Imo. The quad attempt was pretty good so hopefully they can get that stabilised during this season. The free program in particular just didnt do it for me. It probably didnt help that she skated right after Zakarhova with the same music either. The girls does have something special however and first junior season isnt relly when we want her to shine anyway so I hope for better in the future.

Zakharova was good and I prefered her paint ot black to Petrosyans but she unforturnately couldnt afford the fall on the quad and the stepout on the combination in a field where the others where so good. I did notice that she has powerfull jumps with good lift so I think the quads have good potetial longterm.

Have we heard anything about this year's Russian cup yet?
Does anyone remember when we got the schedule and assignments last year?

I've posted a link to the schedule here: https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/threads/2021-22-russian-local-events.88497/post-2765801
Assignments aren't out yet. I (or someone else) will post separate threads for the Cup of Russia Events in the Russian Nationals Forum once we get closer to the first event. (I'd probably start with the OP for the first event after Test Skates).
