I'm most happy to see Sasha Trusova's 3axel!!! That's the jump she really needs. A 3a in the SP and one in the LP will give her such a bonus with the rest of her quads. I could seriously see her do her LP as:

3a, 4f, 4s, 4ltz-2t//////// 4ltz(-3t), 4toe(-Eu-3sal), 3ltz(-3t,-3lp,-3sal,-2t if needed).
This might be confusing what I mean, so my ideal layout would be:
Plan A: 3a, 4f, 4s, 4ltz-2t//////// 4ltz-3t, 4toe-Eu-3sal, 3ltz. However, if she misses the first 4lutz she'd miss a combo and it would be too risky to put in another 4lutz, so I think the 4toe should replace the second 4lutz and then you can play around with the final jump pass in combo, like
Plan B: 3a, 4f, 4s, 4ltz (fall or stepout) //////// 4t-3t, 4toe-Eu-3sal, 3ltz (-3loop, -3toe, -2toe).

And actually with a 3axel and 4 different quads, her LP can have TWO X/-3toes. What that means is that she could do 4lz-3toe in both the first AND back half. So Sasha really could/should go for the 4lutz/3toe first and see what happens after that.... Whatever the case, she needs to figure out the best points value.

Wow, interesting, yet again. Maybe the best SP choice of the Russian ladies?

Sofia Samodurova FS “Mulan” OST
:rolleye: Certain hippos don't rampage here anymore, so I can say that Mishin's women really might not even skate and it won't matter to me. Just dreadful direction from him.

Daria’s FS is Nessun Dorma
Suits her, wish they'd done something more out there with her. She's got pretty well-known music choices these two seasons.

Where are the rest? Currently, I think Anna's are the best music choices, overall, even if I wish they'd chosen something different for the second half of the LP.

Well, that's your opinion and of course you are entitled to it. It would matter to me though, because I enjoy both Sofia and Liza. Sofia's skating and programs are so unique and off the beaten track, watching her gives me joy every time. 🥰 I hope she still finds fulfilment in skating and will be happy with her achievements throughout the season.
Liza is just epic. Her grit and determination deserve so much admiration. Of course you can criticize her skating and programs, but, tbh, that is true for most of the ladies. In the end a lot of it comes down to personal preferences and tastes. Imo, the more different coaching schools and skating styles are represented at test skates, the better for the continued popularity of Russian FS overall.

To be honest I was hopping a little more of the music choice .... if you want to win, in olympic season, you only have two choices ... choose war horses or go to some great new music piece ...

The 3 song used in Alexanda Cruella fs.

I actually think they jam quite well together. Sometimes movie ost programs can feel too clustered because of trying to fit too much music together but I think the music choice here will be able to transition one to the other quite smoothly without feeling awkward.

I honestly honestly really only like Anna’s selections just from their composition alone… although I think Sasha’s could be interesting depending on packaging. Anna’s FS has a lot of potential. Daria’s suit her but they seem in her comfort zone and in general the direction TT went this year to lyrical jazzy/blues pieces is a little frustrating to me. No need to overstate the disappointment that was keeping Kamila’s Bolero and not Storm, esp. only to replace Storm with something near the same. Aliona’s music… eh There is a very soft beginning to the SP selection, and it’s six minutes long… maybe it will be cut nicely. Hoping they cut Four Seasons well, I’m personally not a big fan of it. I think both choices are really loud and in your face an not necessarily great for something delicate. But the step sequence in those videos of her is actually quite lovely. Sofia doing Mulan in a China hosted Olympic season seems bad taste from the western perspective… too many people might see it as just tokenization which I’m sure is not the intent but for whatever reason people like to complain about that stuff. I really am glad Maia kept her SP from last season. It suited her really well and she seemed to love performing it, so double win!

I’m sure all these skepticisms will be proven wrong tomorrow. Usually it goes “oh I don’t like the music choice” but the packaging and skater bring it all together for a performance that is actually quite lovely— Aliona’s Twilight is the perfect example.

Hmm why are so many of the music choices so screamy? I love me some rock but the ending of Aliona's SP sounds kinda... Much... For an echoey ice rink. And I was looking forward to The Greatest Showman but Never Enough is probably my least favourite of those songs. It fits with Daria's style but I wish they'd branched out a little bit more. Like, even This Is Me would've been better. Not a fan of Sasha's music on first impression either, although her positions are looking much better now.

So far, it looks like Anna has the best SP, choreo and music wise. Her jumps look a bit small and underrotated though but she's less time to prepare what with her injury and all so she'll probably be fine come GP time.

Gotta say Maiia's SP is looking as great as ever.

Daria’s FS is Nessun Dorma
Anna’s FS “Ruska” Apocalyptica, Master and Margarita OST, Requiem Mozart (David Garrett)
Sofia Samodurova FS “Mulan” OST
What, Anna using Finnish music with a Finnish song name? Now that's something I was not expecting.

Apocalyptica likes using some of my favorite Finnish words like Ruska, although my favorite Finnish word is Kaamos(which is also my favorite song by Apocalyptica).

Has anyone seen these recent skates of Margarita Bazylyuk (coached by Tutberidze and Dudakov)?
