Aliona did a runthrough with a 3A today. The journalist said that the Axel was so nice and easy, he initially couldn’t tell whether it was a double or a triple. He later confirmed that it was a 3A.

Aliona was visibly tight throughout the program but overall well done! I'm so happy she's gradually getting back in shape and gaining the confidence back.
There's no way a stable Kosto with 3A's should be counted out for the team. Wish her a great season ahead!

Wait so that WAS a 3A at the start?? I got so excited when she did it but then decided it looked too easy so thought it must've just been a really big 2A.

I put my thoughts on the skate over on the Russian Women's thread, 3A or not this was a big win for her. I just wish she had music worthy of her talent.

It indeed looked a little too easy for a triple at first sight LOL.Totally. A big personal win for her tonight after a year of struggle. Music-wise I think this Four Seasons cut is a bit generic. Let's see if she can develop the program and sell it as the season progresses. The costume and hair were lovely though.

I am cackling at this interview - Aliona returned her hair to its normal colour because her mother threatened to shave her head if she didn't, and had made good on her threat previously by shaving her brother's hair. Can you imagine if Aliona had started this season with a shaved head?

Beautiful 3A. This music is too fast for her. Better than the screamo nightmare from yesterday (just...go...back...to Adios Nonino or the Departure program please), but she's going to need a lot more stamina to really perform it. It doesn't have that trademark magic yet, but hopefully it'll get there.

I don't like vivaldi but aliona can make a masterpiece of it... 3A check ... and what is hard is the first one .. and that is done ...so I think now she is a contender for the third spot ... so she just needs a 4... and if you listen to the words of danii the problem is in her head not in the tecnic

I was actually wondering if something like that happened! I remember one year Medvedeva forgot some of her choreography at test skates, so it was in the back of my mind as a possibility. Also
at Patrick Chan as an inspiration.

I remember that! Evgenia randomly skating around the rink, doing a couple of steps, and then Brian going "What happened" when she came off the ice, and both of them laughing. Test skates are really not where the skaters are at their best!I was actually wondering if something like that happened! Glad it wasn't just me! So nice to have it confirmed it was a 3A, and a great one at that.
Honestly, if anyone can make me love Four Seasons it's Aliona, just gotta make sure not to forget the step sequence again!
Poor thing looked so distressed during that part but recovered very well! Test Skates is the best place to make these sort of mistakes, anyway. Get the nerves out of the way, so cool that Russia has them.Also I do remember Patrick Chan having a good Vivaldi, but again he was just one of those skaters who could skate to anything and make it look good. Some people just naturally have that effect, Aliona is one of them.

i think all in all this weekend was a huge win and step in the right direction for her. she already looks better than last season and the fact she did two 3As is huge! people are saying she looked empty in her programs, but she was clearly thinking about the jumps which is no surprise. she has HUGE pressure on her shoulders after everything that's happened the last few months...losing the 3A, going back to Eteri with the condition she gets it back, and expectation for her to have it back by test skates. she did really really well. it will come together with more training.
