I agree. And I think it's the result of having just too many skaters and Olympic team candidates in one team.. It's kind of ridiculous. Even Zhenya and Alina situation was very tense. And it's a pity because this is probably the most important season of their careers. Everyone knows how much women category changes every 4 years...I must say I'm disappointed in a lot of the Russian ladies programs this Olympic season.
My thoughts entirely. No reason to be sad, standing on the podium after such a long break in an international competition is not bad at all. We'll see her perform much, much better soon, I'm 100% sure! And I like her new dress! She looked stunning with the make up harmonizing with the colours of her costume.I am not upset at all. On the contrary, I think this is a good try out. I believe Aliona and the team now should have a simple and clear strategy (maybe they already have): stabilize the 3A and polish the programs. Aliona can sell any program, we know that, and I am fine with the current ones. The key is to get that 3A back and skate clean. I am optimistic.
Very true. The thing is in my opinion evgenia has 2 great programs this season that won't be used. You make the very good point about how there's just too many Olympic caliber Russian ladies for these programs and that's probably why a lot of us don't love the programs. Aliona needs to make the best out of hers. But I so wish she had chosen take 5 or summertime for her SP. She would have nailed both of us like they were easy.I agree. Generous? Where? Her 3A was indeed UR but since when a step-out is scored nearly as a fall? EtcProgram is not great, but the judging was quite generous. The judges clearly love her, but she needs better programs.
I don't know but she doesn't mention Budapest in the interview as well.Apparently, Aliona isn't going to Budapest? She hasn't officially withdrawn, but the various people on the internet are saying that she isn't going.
The judges are not off to a good start this season from this event.. It was strange scoring a lot of people got great marks.Generous? Where? Her 3A was indeed UR but since when a step-out is scored nearly as a fall? Etc
I confess I am upset, considering how scoring was generous elsewhere. Without need because she was clearly 3d.
I really hope you are right! The judges are not off to a good start this season from this event.. It was strange scoring a lot of people got great marks.
Some did not. Why can't the ISU get judges who are consistent?
Aliona will be fine. She's pretty close with her triple axle and once she gets truly confident in that she's gonna be scoring 230 to 250 points because as others have said International judges love her.
I hope for that too. But there should not be the inconsistencies we say it's consistencies we say all the time in figure skating especially with the ladies and for example this Finlandia competition the scores as you pointed out we're all over the place. Some people got over scored by not a couple points but much more. It doesn't make the sport look good.I really hope you are right!
I long the day when judges won't have an impossible amount of tasks to perform, will have a good number of parameters written on their screens (have a good mastery of them, that's more difficult) and can pay more attention to the real skate they see with lower risk of offensive blunders.
