Why is Mark talking about Eric and Vanessa? Rough skate to watch in general.

Because Eric was Evelyn and Trennt's choreographer, then they discovered suddenly that Eric was coming back to compete. He didn't even give them a heads-up. That was pretty mean. Plus Eric and Vanessa have the Feds support and are likely to get the Olympic spot. It must be unsettling to have the person who was trying to help you get that spot is suddenly going for it themself!

oh no..too bad about the falls after those nice salchows. Some lovely lifts though.

I have been struck by the fact that none of the Canadian skaters, with the possible exception of Maddie Schizas, look anywhere near as strong as they did before the pandemic. This is across all disciplines. The lack of ice time must have hit them all very hard.

it has been very difficult for our figure skaters... very.... that's why Canada was hoping the ISU would not hold worlds last year or at least not use it as olympic qualifier.... Lack of ice time was huge during the first couple waves... then it became the lack of competitive opportunities. Things are getting much better now all around but when you are off your rhythm as an athlete, it can take months to recover.... and injuries are frequent when people are trying to catch up with things

Their lifts are really good, despite the jumping errors. This team definitely has potential.

Beautiful lifts. On the whole, it was very good. They have the potential to be very good in a year or two.

This is actually a really promising new team. I really like them. Looks like they will get the side by side jumps. The throws look a little scary at this point. I thought they didn't actually get enough GOE on their spectacular lifts, easily their best elements.

There are some gorgeous details in this program; thank you to John and Sinead Kerr for creating it. I also believe that Todd Sand and John Kerr would both look as handsome as Danny does in that sheer top, which is no mean feat.

I want to say, in addition to their lifts, they have a beautiful twist. Very happy to see them get level 4 here with great GOE.

I'm interested to hear from people knowledgeable about pairs about their challenges with the throws. Obviously they're a new team still getting familiar with each other, but is it different technique? Different timing? Throwing her more/less than what she's used to?

My conclusion is that I think I'm having a crush on Chelsea Liu
