Too much social media, modeling, fashion shows, promoting and cooking is the likelier reason. Haha
This is an expensive sport she needs to make money while she can.

I remember in 18-19 when Sakhanovich didn’t make nationals I was shocked that someone who could score 200+ couldn’t make the cut. Now little Liza is out this year but I’m sure she won’t be the only 200+ Skater who won’t make it this time (ex. Frolova)

Nugumanova is out of RusNats.

After a terrible skate today at Stage 3 where she finished 11th(!) we can safely say that we won't see Nugumanova at Russian Nationals.
What did she score in stage 3? Yet little Liza had such a nice season last year and she was really good at nationals and very underscored. Typical for the camp she comes from.

So she's going to miss nationals without Maria and Nastya in the mix? It's time for little Liza to do what her BFF's have done and that's change her sports citizenship. The Russian federation has always held her down and she's still a teenager so it's time to go while she still has her career. She can do what nastya is doing and that's live and train in Saint Petersburg and represent another country.. Finland Belarus and Germany come to mind. Has Liza skated internationally in the last 2 years? That is the key question.

Good luck to the Russian federation they're gonna have 5 to 10 ladies asking for citizenship transfers in the off season. Lol.

She has lots of work thanks to her popularity in Russia she isn't leaving anywhere. She seems to be more interested in being social media influencer at this point, it pays better and she has better prospects there.

Don’t disagree about the money part.

posted the below a few hours ago in the Russian cup thread:

”I’m only speculating but she may be losing focus with all her off ice responsibilities.

Between going to fashion shows, modeling and promoting Mercedes, her cooking forays, and her tik tok promotions (apparently she has quite the following there), it’s not that hard for a 20 year old to lose focus. Heck, anyone could with such a full plate.

It’s even harder to be motivated if she earns more money off ice from the extra curricular activities than on ice.

She just may be transitioning to her post skating career sooner than later.

Her just skipping events while not officially telling the organizers should have been a red flag. I mean who gets disqualified for that?”

Is that fair? Because she's growing in popularity shouldn't have any effect on Lizas training and skating as there are a lot of popular figure skaters in Russia. If she's just getting passed by by hungrier more gifted skaters or more technically gifted skaters that is then so be it. that sports and that's life.

Not making Nationals has to be a crushing blow to Liza.

Did stanislava make Nationals yet or is she on her way to doing so? I haven't heard much from her lately.

Making Russian Nationals for the ladies will be an excellent accomplishment this season just like it always is. I'm glad Nastya does not have to put up with that stress anymore. To hear the footsteps of the younger girls right behind you must be overwhelming.

Just googled and found her info (hope it's correct)

Name: Veronika Yametova
Date of birth: June 30, 2007
Region: Yekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk region)
Type: Single skating
Club: Youth Sports School No. 8 “Lokomotiv” (Yekaterinburg)
Coach: Elena Levkovets, Vladimir Gnilozubov
Former clubs: ShFK “Iceberg” (Yekaterinburg)
Former coaches: Anastasia Shvets , Irina Kodushkevich
As Veronika is 14, someone might want to create a fanfest. Here is a recent interview with her coach Elena Levkovets, former coach of Yulia Lipnitskaya На смену Ковтуну и Липницкой в свердловском фигурном катании пришла Вероника Яметова (Veronika Yametova replaced Kovtun and Lipnitskaya in Sverdlovsk figure skating)

I didn't know Liza scored under 160 points. :( after Nationals last year where she was so good I thought for sure she would be getting a Grand Prix event and a couple challenges this season. Her Instagram is fun and she loves it. But isn't she gaining in popularity because she's a Russian figure skater? If Liza retires want her Instagram following go down? And isn't that why Alina has not officially announced her retirement yet?
It might hurt her finances and Liza probably feels the same way.

No her popularity came from her Tiktoks blowing up during quarantine that had nothing to do with figure skating. She blew up cause she is pretty and could dance well basically like any other tiktok star she just happens to be a Russian figure skater as well.

To be fair most of her tiktoks are skating-related and her handle on there is Ice Princess Nuga. But I agree that if she were to retire or keep going but just never make the national team again, her fame on tiktok wouldn't suffer too much. She's very pretty and it probably wouldn't be too hard to make the transition to mainstream tiktok, as long as that's what she wants of course.

(And I guess she'd be able to keep making skating tiktoks even if she never competes again, it's not like her audience on there is going to count the rotations on her spinning videos and whatnot.)

If you're asking about Konstantinova, she hasn't competed this season so far. She just moved coaching teams and local federations from SPB to Moscow, so she'll probably need a little more time to adjust. And afaik the local fed has to submit their skaters to Cup of Russia. It can't be easy to get an assignment as a lady skater from Moscow...
Anyway, Stasya said at the beginning of the year her goal was to make nationals, so hopefully she turns up at the last two CoR events and does really well to make the cut. And if not, she can use this season to regroup and come back stronger next year.

Thanks CKL.

A change from one city to another when it's St Petersburg to Moscow should not be such a struggle. I mean it's not like she's going from Vladivostok to Moscow. ;) she needs to make Nationals I think she can and she also should be in a couple Challengers.

Although I did hear that Stasya had to return all her dresses that she got in St Petersburg.
I didn't like hearing that.

People will be asking who is this girl. Third at the 3rd stage of the Cup today, behind only Samodelkina and Muravieva and really really good:

She's an awesome young skater! She gets nice height on her jumps; I think it was a rippon 3Lo that stood out to me in particular, whatever it was, it was definitely rippon. Her spins are great, she has a lovely cantilever in her choreo sequence, and some fun choreography throughout the programme. And she was so genuinely delighted after her skate, unlike some of the other girls, who looked upset despite skating well. I hope that she might get a JGP spot next year!

Error # 404?

This one should work

Yeah, I don’t think her audience is going to unfollow her because they notice the lutz on her tik tok video is under rotated. Haha

Bottom line, if she can make more money doing social media stuff while not having to put herself through competitive training all year round, why wouldn’t she?

Especially given that the fed money and support probably won’t be available next season.

It just has the feeling that she is slowly distancing herself from competitive skating.

It’s her life, just hope she doesn’t regret it when she gets older. Only a select few skaters get on the Russian National Team, even as alternates.

That's it. It doesn't matter whether an embassy official knows someone as a person. He is paid to do his job properly and canadian embassy emplyees obviously have failed in doing their job properly, because that delay had nothing to do with health safety, it was a simple bureaucratic sluggishness and idleness, which, of course, is accepted by some when it comes to mere skaters "nobody cares about (it provides more chances to the others after all ;))".

The embassy and government officials did their job absolutely correctly. Good for them. :) ETA: We have no idea what their time frame limits are, what their other duties are, and to judge them on the timelines of visas for figure skaters ? Important to us, not to them.

The argument that figure skating is so popular in Russia that Canadian officials must absolutely know that these skaters are so so so popular in Russia, because who wouldn't know is so circular, as to be unpersuasive.

The further argument that therefore Canada is engaged in the Eville Anti Russian Konspiracy to keep figure skaters out of Canada because after all the Whole Wide World knows and cares if a Russian figure skater wins Skate Canada

I don't think so.

My wish: that everyone would love and support their favorite skaters. That if those favorite skaters are Russian women, they shower them with support, respect, applause and all the good things.

And leave silly nationalism that leads to conspiracy minded conclusions (ETA: such nationalism of course being far different than national pride) at home.(y)

This one should work
Thank you!
