Gran Premio D'Italia is tomorrow! Here's Yuma's planned program content. And he and his coach/father finally switched the 4Lo and 4S! (Shoma needs to do the same imo, landing a 4S right after a 4Lo is really hard and most guys pop it or fall because they don't have enough speed/energy)

Yuma changed up the middle section of his program during the StSq and last three jumps. I'm not a fan of the first music cut, but otherwise I really like it!

From 7th to 1st place, honestly this is why I love men's skating, you just never know what's coming.

Just dropping by to say Congrats! What a spectacular comeback! A more deserved Gold medal there never was.

Not sure I ever posted here, but it’s definitely long overdue if not.

I had a rollercoaster day yesterday, when I finally bought a grand piano (I say finally, apparently after more than three decades, that, too, was long overdue, lol). Then I came home and caught up with the men’s SP just (!) before the FS started, and of course I was just gutted!!

Fortunately I didn’t have to wait long for Yuma to make everything right again!

Fingers crossed this is the start of an incredible GP season for him and who knows what it will lead to at the Olympics!

Just wondering if Yuma will stay in Europe for the two weeks leading up to the Grand Prix in France. If he returns to Japan in between and has to quarantine for two weeks, that wouldn't give him time to be in the IdF. Just curious.

He's going to continue training in Torino, I think. The Palavela posted this on Instagram this morning.

A much better SP for Yuma today, and broke 100 despite a step-out on the 3A! Have to admit I don't think this SP does anything for him, especially compared to how good his FP is.

Is he planning to go for the 4Lo tomorrow? He has nothing to lose really so definitely worth going for it.

Yuma's planning on going to Chukyo University next year! It's one of two universities in Japan with a year-round rink, and is of course where Shoma went to uni

Yuma tried to scare me half to death today by talking about quints in a new interview. Fortunately, he's not going to even try to practice quints until 2023-2024 at the earliest. He does want to have all of the five types of quads for next season (with as shallow as his lutz edge is he can get a 4F pretty easily since he's been training a 4Lz) and isn't going to try the 4Lo at Nats. Hats off to his dad on this brilliant coaching decision, he said that Nats were a very important event and they couldn't risk trying something new. Yuma wants to win and get a guaranteed Olympic spot because of the other skaters like Kazuki, Shun, and Sota, who could also place well and get a spot. He's also practicing at the Chukyo University rink, and he practices with Shoma a lot.
