Oh, I don't understand Russian at all.

No, unfortunately I don't understand russian at all, had to go by Google's Translation and I was just paraphrasing. Thanks for explaining the context of the whole sentence.
I still don't it was really necessary of him to mention the IG post, as it comes across as a bit dismissive of her trying to express gratitude, but I understand the point he was trying to make.
Was just thinking that maybe they got mad was because they thought her post wasn’t sincere, or an attempt to make herself look good.

Let’s say you get into an argument with someone and they tell you one thing but your social media followers something else.

Something happened before that post I think. I obviously could be wrong, but I would be shocked if I was wrong.

Thing is, who cares? A coach is expected to be more mature and have better professional manners than a teenage girl. Like how Daniil says, don't retaliate, just do your job.

Like I said in the last part of my post, something else happened before the post I think.

The post is probably a “straw that broke the camels back” type of situation.

This is interesting, although I don't know if I agree with "trying to build courage to attempt a 3A". Ted did comment on this earlier this season during a warmup, but made it sound more like she had more trouble than others jumping when her favorite corner of the rink was too crowded? Did she get into a collision at some point, or something?
(And: could that have contributed to her leaving Sambo in the first place? Not wanting to share the ice with too many people was one of the reasons mentioned, wasn't it?)

Anxiety about getting dropped by the team if she doesn't reached the goals they've set very publicly, anxiety about getting injured (from observing what has always happened to others as they aged, as someone mentioned earlier, + potentially through a collision, if that did happen before and was a bit traumatizing), anxiety about feeling like a shadow of her pre-Covid self (which affects both her athletic and personal life, and possibly her future professional life too), anxiety about missing out on her own goals after coming so close (the cancelled Worlds 2020), especially with all her potential, anxiety about the way she'll be (mis)treated that day when she shows up at the rink, or even out of nowhere, on her day off, through the press... Man, I'm anxious just thinking about it. What an awful situation to be in. And it's not like they don't know she's a sensitive girl, even on the best of days! But it seems they just do. not. care. And plenty of people here laud them for it! What's one more girl falling off the conveyor belt, many more are coming behind.

Sometimes I think some people just seem to be missing an empathy chip.

I hope Aliona has some kind of support network in place in her life... I worry about her.

So experts, how does the contract/coaching situation work there.

Can TT release Alena at anytime or does it work differently? Got to think that divorce #2 is a possibility.

Omg I go to sleep and wake up to all this crazy drama.

I am no fan of Daniil but I appreciated his explanation about the repetition day in and day out. As a figure skating fan I have some idea that they must repeat things a bazillion times but to hear it so bluntly really brings home what these girls must go through every day over and over and over again for us to watch 5 minutes of beautiful skating.

Eteri just unfollowed again Alyona from Instagram. It's a drama!!!
Twitter tells me she had never refollowed her. No drama there, at least.
As for how people know: there are websites dedicated to that stuff. Following all the involved players helps as well.

I don’t know. I still think that Kostornaya is probably a valuable asset for Eteri in that Kostornaya could make Eteri money as a show skater. Kostornaya undoubtedly has star power.

People that can’t cut in in their profession are fired everyday.

Why do we need to have empathy for someone that chose a high pressure profession at a high pressure place that leaves and returns as she pleases? Maybe after the first time she left you could give her the benefit of the doubt and say you feel for her, but at this point, there is a bad pattern that has emerged. 2 coaches and 3 different situations means she doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt now.

She made bad career choices, left them once, then left the people she left them for and doesn’t have the desire that the people that against reason gave her another chance require.

Alena is not the victim here. No matter how her fans try to make it so.

Choices have consequences. And you need to own your choices.

Once she returned, she should have done everything to not piss them off.

She is squandering her second chance immensely.

Who will want to take a chance on her now. Burning every bridge she comes across. Is she going to go back to Plushenko again?

It’s a cutthroat sport. She isn’t bringing the results that can overcome the baggage. It’s as simple as that.

Look at the crap Maia got and look how she responded. She was thrown under the bus for one bad performance, but look at her now.

If Danny G wants a long career coaching, at some point he’s going to have to learn to deal with situations where he has to help a struggling skater endure.

At the moment he reminds me of a young real estate agent who has entered his father’s business during a real estate boom.

The bubble never lasts and eventually one day just swapping out a skater with a younger model when it gets too hard won’t be an option.

Alëna does this all the time during warm up. She just skates around doing nothing. This is nothing new. I think it started already at Europeans 2020, and it looks like she doesn't want to be out there.

I think she might have lost her confidence already at RusNats 2019 when she had won everything up until then, and she was clean, and then she lost anyway. It was a hard blow that really really showed afterwards. She was stunned, shocked.

That's the whole point, isn't it? If Dani G. himself in fact wants to sound like a whiny mean girl, well, hey, who am I to say no:laugh:

I don't know the man well enough to know if that's his style, but if you say so🤷‍♀️

I don't know Daniil.
What I know, I read waves of posts here and there proclaiming Daniil
  • to be the Mediocrity incarnate,
  • to be the Wickedness incarnate,
  • that he should do so or so,
  • that some experts should teach him the real way,
  • that he should not react live,
  • that he should not speak live,
  • that he should publicly hide his emotions (what would it be like, if he didn't wear a mask ?)
  • next steps, who will advise him psychologists, psychiatrists ?
  • ...
  • more recently, that he sounds like  the stereotypical whiny pouty meany girl in the cafeteria

I roughly like the extravagance that overflows from the written fantasies here, it is even part of a captivating & entertaining thread. But it continuously targets the entity and the work of a particular team, real persons. Similar treatment applies to Eteri & Olga ; It's all the more disturbing when it goes so far as to target the alleged (mental) health of young athletes, that's another additional chapter.

In any case it touches me, as naive as it may seem. You are not the author of all these absurd complaints, not aiming at you in particular but to answer you : the general relentlessness on his person bothers me, yes. He breathes, sounds, emotes, works like Daniil, not crystallized in zooms & by obsessive decryption. The rest is only interpretation, appropriation, misrepresentation.

So the Wilde quote.
So whoever you are, just be careful not to become the Mean Girl in the Cafeteria, if it's not you intrinsically
P.-S. I don't know Señorita Gomez well enough to know if that's her style, but if you say so 🤷‍♀️;)

And that’s her right. Before, she could get away on just her ability. But those days are fine because your teammates out work you and have more technical weapons.

Maybe it’s just best for her to go to school and forget this skating thing. If she doesn’t have the fire to do it, why torture herself?
