Have to say Anna really impresses me with her artistry this year. I didn’t like her programs much last year because I thought the short was just perfume slapped onto new music, and then the free program literally was slapped onto new music in the 2nd half.

But this year I think Daniil gave her much better programs with a lot more musical relevancy. I do worry the free program is like Medvedeva’s Anna Karenina (sad and tragic) while Kamila the younger challenger has triumphant bolero, like Zagitova’s DQ.

With it looking likelier and likelier that Anna is the only one of the 03-04 trio to make the Olympics, I have to say kudos to her because back in 18 everyone including me said Trusova and Kostornaia were the future and Shcherbakova would burn out with unstable ultra-C

Yes, people have counted her out for three seasons now, and yet she is the national champion of these seasons.

I think what Anna has is a rare gift, it's grit and fighting spirit. She works really hard with the programs she is given and she always delivers. I couldn't stand her programs last season but it didn't matter because Anna sold them to me anyway. And her greatest asset is that she feeds off the audience and gets extra energy from it.

That said, I worry, if Anna is one of the chosen ones for Olympics, I soooo hope it will not be in an empty arena like in Stockholm this year. Anna NEEDS the audience to perform.

Adeliya botched her solo 4Lo but landed a 4Lo2T at the CoR in Perm - and became the first woman to land a 4Lo at a competition

and she did it without any coaches by her side (as they all are at different senior competitions)

Petrosian really surprised us today. She tried two 4Lo's in the free at stage 5, and landed the first (with a q) but fell on the second one.

So I guess that means that Adelia is the first woman that lands a 4Lo in competition??

A jump with negative GOE and q marks cannot be considered clean. And I think you know that the jump should be done at an ISU competition. She has the opportunity to be first at the JGPF

Yes, of course it will have to be at an international competition to be cleared by the ISU, But it was a nice surprise from Adelia nevertheless.

I did too. Obviously wasn't happy for whatever reasons. Hopefully we will find out

Sofia M. has been landing the 3A consistently in practice ; She now even practices 3A 3T and Plushenko showed her run through in practice where she attempts this combo as the first element to her free skate. So, I’m assuming the 3A is consistent enough. The 4S, is the one she is more inconsistent with. She has landed it in practice. So, it will be interesting to see how she does tmrw in the free skate.

I think we jinxed her. Haha

Yeah I don't get it either, didn't the composer offer to work with them to improve it as well? Maybe that was too much for Danny G's ego to handle so they just scrapped the whole program.

I'm so happy with the improvements Aliona is making performance-wise. Hopefully the 3As will follow as she gains more confidence.

me too. i am totally fine with her not doing the 3A today, this was clearly a smart choice and a confidence booster. her PCS rose over a full point from Canada.

Yeah the PCS boost was nice to see! I really do wish they would use the whole Liza version of NYNY though. It starts pretty out slowly anyway so starting with Carey Mulligan feels pointless, Aliona really comes alive in the 2nd half so it would make the whole thing feel more cohesive imo. Wouldn't even need to change the actual program that much.

Smart choice for this competition, yes, but bigger picture she needs 3 triple axels (1 SP, 2 FS) for a shot at the Olympic team

All 3 ladies did great today, was impressed with how good Shcherbakova's SP looked considering she's only had it for 2 weeks.

However, Adelia is also in the mix with 3 types of quads now.
Going for a 4Lo is a smart strategy, now that I think about. If she lands a clean 4Lo or 4Lo combo anytime soon, it’s going to be an instant boost for her standing. It’s hard to ignore a record holder athlete. If she lands a 4Lo combo like today at JGPF, she’s going to be the first skater ever, male and female, to do that.

Anna got her Olympic face on now which means no more games and the hammers are going to start getting dropped on folks. Good luck field is all I have you say. Anna’s gonna start taking people to school. Haha

3S+2A+V are the deepest group of juniors ever. To think AZ with two quad toes could skate cleanly at Junior nationals and still place 6th is crazy

I’ll gladly trade having to clue in exchange for her getting back to her best.

A great again Alena pushes Maiia who has jumped again of her on the squad list and, selfishly, also pushes Liza. Liza has been beating her everywhere she has found her for a year. Don’t want Liza getting complacent. Haha

Just like Kamila being awesome this season has focused Anna even more.

Competition is great.
