I’ll gladly trade having to clue in exchange for her getting back to her best.

A great again Alena pushes Maiia who has jumped again of her on the squad list and, selfishly, also pushes Liza. Liza has been beating her everywhere she has found her for a year. Don’t want Liza getting complacent. Haha

It would just be cool to congratulate her on a great skate without the Tutberidze coaching propaganda.

I did. Could have easily ignored her skate and focused on Anna.

But, sometimes you have to give the devil their due. Her best skate in a while came after the coaches publicly called her out. So good coaching is not propaganda, it’s good coaching.

I’m not in the “Eteri is evil and injures and ignores her skaters camp” that’s in vogue unfortunately.

They are the biggest reason Alena is coming back to life. They took her back against all reason and they are taking the time to rehabilitate her. If you wish to call that propaganda, go right ahead. You are free to label it as you wish.

I just need to point out that at this moment in time, Anna, Alexandra and Aliona all three of them have a black dress with a white/pale strip running diagonally across their torso from their left shoulder to their right hip for one of their programmes this season (Anna and Aliona SP, Sasha FP).

There's no reason to simply talk in polar opposite sides is my opinion. My other opinion is that I'll always give primary credit to the skater no matter who the coach, always.

Coaches matter. A lot. If they didn’t, every camp would have an Olympic contender.

But coaches aren’t just coaches. They are recruiters (notice the abundance of talent in one school, that’s not an accident), teachers, disciplinarians when need be, mechanics, etc.

Coaching isn’t just X’s and O’s.

I never said coaches don't matter at all or that they don't matter a lot. Strawman? Same way if coach mattered more than skater than they could make any skater a star. Also just realised in your other post you refer to the Usacheva-"Eteri evil injury" case (actually comments are by Zheleznyakov), when Aliona-Daniil comments is completely different. So I never even called *that* which you refer to as the propaganda. There's no point to talk really when you don't comment in good faith.

The propaganda is your fantasising from nowhere that Aliona skated well because of Daniil's comments. But then again you also fantasise about Anna sacrificing your life for her skating or something along those lines.

Unpopular opinion, I like the previous SP with the sand for Anna better, the orange dress was cool. This new program is not bad but I prefer the other program for her.

Yes, people have counted her out for three seasons now, and yet she is the national champion of these seasons.

I think what Anna has is a rare gift, it's grit and fighting spirit. She works really hard with the programs she is given and she always delivers. I couldn't stand her programs last season but it didn't matter because Anna sold them to me anyway. And her greatest asset is that she feeds off the audience and gets extra energy from it.

That said, I worry, if Anna is one of the chosen ones for Olympics, I soooo hope it will not be in an empty arena like in Stockholm this year. Anna NEEDS the audience to perform.

She will be one of the chosen. Can you imagine if Anna is off the Olympic team when she's holding 3 straight national championships and the world championships? and those 3 national championships are every bit as impressive as her world championship. Maybe more.

Unless something unforeseen happens Anna and KV are sure things for the Olympic team.

I hope they have fans in Bejiing.

Liza has had more than 1 good senior season and 2 WC medals including a gold. She cleanly beat out Alena to get the spot that gave her the silver remember.

Alena is a one year wonder so far. And 10 years into her career Liza has been pounding Alena head to head for over a year. And none of that is a figment of my imagination.

And fantasy or not, her best skate came after the coach got on her case. You can chalk it up to coincidence. Don’t need to give the coaches credit. We have a different way of interpreting what happened.

And of course coaches can’t turn someone unathletic like me into a champion. That’s why I mentioned recruiting and spotting raw talent.

The Anna situation is not of my doing. It was in response to those last year that wanted her to quit and were castigating her for “putting lives at risk.” I support her then and now unreservedly.

And I never said you said coaches didn’t matter a little or a lot. And that’s on me if I phrased it like that. Hey I’m not perfect.

anna’s new SP is so grand and Olympic. i’m impressed with how good she is with it after only a couple weeks. her other SP was just half-baked thematically and lazy choreographically. this new SP will be stellar with some more time. she already had a great grasp on the music and the performance. i really hope she brings back the 3lz3lo, but i fear she may not.

side note i really hope they cut the unnecessary length and fabric off the dress. it’s beautiful otherwise, but the bottom is so distracting
