Well the Norwegian banks don´t allow transactions from foreign betting sides either, so it´s not possible for me to bet on such sides either way. But you are right, it´s probably for the best. You can only bet money on soccer and other boring sports (cross country ski) from Norwegian sides here, of course they don´t include figure skating. So my money is safe ;) But perhaps they will cover figure skating during OG, I might throw in some money if the odds is good.
Good luck. If you win big, remember that we are friends and that I wouldn’t mind you paying for my trip to Oslo. Haha

I like youth competitions more and more :)

Today's battle at the "Rainbow Cup": Alena Prineva Vs. Elizaveta Andreeva

After SP: Prineva 68.16; Andreeva 68.61

Lets watch their free program :)

And who do you like more? :scratch2:

Prineva has greater potential.

FSO guys report that Sasha Trusova was moved to the youngster's line. She's skating with a group of junior girls and some boys.
Whatever it means...

First of all, "FSO guys report" is already :ROFLMAO:

Second, that "report" is based on this clip of Adeliya doing 4Lo2T, with Eteri, Sasha and Sonya on ice. Oh, and Moris and Yegor have been "moved to the youngster's line", because they were there too :)

1TV was shooting a special there.

In her latest interview, Bestemianova discussing ladies' skating boom in Russia said: "I don't know what the future brings. There is discussion among top coaches, that there is not as many talented children as before".

You think she made it up, or we're approaching flattening the boom curve?

We did not even see the real consequences of the skating boom yet. Since it all started in Sochi with Lipnitskaya, then popularity grew even more with Medvedeva and Zagitova. And now with the 3A + Valieva it is going to inspire lots of kids to follow their footsteps.
What i'm saying is that 3-4y old kids from 2014 are only 10-11y now. The real figure skating boom in Russia is yet to come.
The more kids want to become skaters the bigger pool to choose from for coaches. Essentially i think it means more talented athletes overall in the future.

Quantity doesn't mean quality.

I'm not very up to date with all Russian girls, but can someone confirm if Alisa Lozko has retired?

Agreed. I think Bestemianova heard something from coaches indeed.
Tuktamysheva, Sotnikova -> Lipnitskaya -> Medvedeva -> Zagitova -> Shcherbakova, Kostornaia, Trusova -> Valieva, Khromykh, Usacheva -> Akatieva, Zinina, Zhilina and ... ?

There are plenty of good novice upcoming skaters like Rubtsova and Titova but are they as excellent talents as those mentioned above?
For instance, I can't see any <14yo with equal or greater potential than Akatieva at the moment.

Obviously Trusova and Valieva are once in a million talents, but Rubtsova, Titova, etc. are certainly on the level of Shcherbakova, Kostornaia, Tuktamysheva in terms of raw talent.

Of Akatieva, Zhilina, Samodelkina, Muravyeva, Petrosyan, Zinina I expect one of them to eclipse a Valieva’s world record in senior. The technical level is already there for all of them except Zinina so really it’s a question of who has the competitive mindset more than the ability. Remember in novice/juniors Tarakanova was considered equal in talent to Trusova/Kostornaia/Shcherbakova but she didn’t have the mindset needed for the top level.

Maybe, I think the technical superiority doesn’t necessarily mean better skaters though. I’d much rather watch Anna, Sasha, and Aliona as juniors than any of the current juniors save Sophia A. They were just so artistically mature for their age, with very polished programs. As kids grow they lose that instability while skating so to speak, which I think is part of why I still don’t like Kamila… she wobbles the way 11 year olds do, even if the rest of the presentation is good.

Artistic development is being overlooked in favor of jumps, so girls like Veronika Zhilina are underdeveloped there, and aren’t near as engaging for their age as the 3A, Alina, Zhenya… Sophia Titova is actually pretty engaging for her age, so we’ll see if she does better artistically than the others.

Also coaches see youth kids who aren’t old enough to be filmed by anything except their parents, so they might have a better comparison nationwide than we as spectators of only the best of the best do.
