No, if Maiia finishes 4th, she enters into tie breakers based on placements. 2+4 is higher than 3+3 of Young You, so she’ll win it without getting into total score tie breaker.
She only loses GPF ticket if she‘s 5th.

There is a lot of theories out there, of someone skipping Euros or having a skate off at Euros. I don't think the Russians will do that.
I think the top three from Nationals will go to Euros. If someone misses the podium at Euros, that someone will be replaced with the 4th skater from Nationals.
Euros is three weeks before the Olympics. And the definite decision will be made then I think. Most likely is that the three who goes to Euros will also go to the Olympics, there is no time for a skate off at the Russian Cup Final as that is after the Olympics.

I agree with you and there's nothing we can do about that unfortunately because the because the season is so long and I do wonder if KV will get burned out by Europeans but by Europeans and we will have seen her peak by then or nationals like we saw from Anna last year. She was incredible at nationals to hold off KV ansasha but not the same skater at worlds even though she won the gold. I can see that happening to KV but I hope not. Even though I call her the KaMissile she is only human after all.

Lets see Valieva polis her programs and mature as a skater. But I'm not sure she looks more physically mature than AZ did at 15. They look to be about the same size.

The pressure did not bother Alina let's see if the pressure and unbeaten streak Kamila has puts a lot of pressure on her.

I don’t know about other feds, but USFS said that they aren’t going to send athletes who are selected for the Olympics to 4CC.

I'm very heartened by Kamila's skating and development. Yes all figure skaters are tiny but Kamila does look extremely fit and I can see muscles on her! There are some Sasha vibes there in terms of fitness!!!

I agree.

Especially about KV and Sasha and the similarities physically. Valieva is only 15.
We will have to see if puberty hammers her because this is the age when Dasha got hammered with it and Nastia got hammered with it.

At this point of the Season it looks like it will be hard to beat KV in any of her competitions.
I almost hope this girl loses a competition before the Olympics because if she goes into the Olympics undefeated in her debut season the pressure will be even more massive than normal.

The same here- exactly my opinion/impression! Kamila's dress certainly elevated everything; it was like the last and final touch for the "picture" to be complete. A color of dress and design...perfect.

And too many black dresses in Eteri's camp.

Any of KV, AS and ET selected for the Olympics I think yes they can. Trusova, AK or Maiia would still need to prove themselves at Euros because a good Nationals could just be a one off.

Maiia's performance today was a bit worrying. With Warsaw in mind, if she has a bad free skate tomorrow and only finishes 4th or lower she opens up the door for You/Hendrickx for the GPF.

If Loena is 3rd and Maiia 4th tomorrow they will both have 22 points just like Young You.
And if my calculations are correct, then
Loena needs 201.53 to beat You
Maiia needs 194.23 to beat You, and 0.01 more to beat Loena

Kamila didn’t perform the 3A clean at Skate Canada. I did bad math— was thinking of the 181 FS score and got 81 in my mind somehow. And then idk how I ended up with 20 not 30. But still, to say because the 3A is not clean… it’s a bit disingenuous looking at how the other girls were scored. For example, Kamila’s stepped out 3A at skate Canada received some +1 marks from judges who also gave landed but UR’ed elements -1 to -3 marks and step outs of fully rotated elements lower than that. It’s simply not good nor fair judging. That score was WAY too high, as was this one here. For example, she often has beautifully centered spins but she travelled a lot today. I haven’t looked at the protocols but given the score I KNOW she wasn’t docked for her spins being worse than usual.

That’s why I said +12 instead of +14. One clean 3A is worth ~10 points (if it gets exactly +2.00 GOE) whereas a 3A with -5 GOE is worth 4 points then with the fall deduction is worth 3 points. So 7 points difference x2 is 14, but the stepout cost her about 2 points (maybe 3 in hindsight).

Do I think it’s a little odd that Kamila is two points ahead of Alena? Yes, but 1) home field advantage and 2) I also found it odd that Alena 2019 GPF was 3 points ahead of Rika 2018 GPF so I’m not sweating it

I hope not. Kamila has the best chance perhaps ever of achieving the season’s gold slam as she is so far ahead of her nearest rival Shcherbakova. Compared to medo/Zagitova where Zagitova was only narrowly ahead of medvedeva (and would have probably lost the season’s gold sweep even before worlds had Medvedeva gone to GPF). And in 2026 I imagine it will also be closer between whichever skaters are at the top

I think that’s a smart decision. That would be a lot of travel in a two-week span. I think the Russian Fed will be reasonable. If Nationals does not distinguish three clear ladies for Olympics, we may see someone from Russian podium at Europeans. But, Russia can sweep European podium with skaters 4-6 from Nationals. I think Anna and Kamila will get Olympic team barring injury...and skip Europeans. I worry it will come down to Tukt or Trusova because I worry Alena will not get her 3A consistent. I’m pulling for Tukt, but it’ll be a fight.

It’s depth like Russian ladies that make me wish Olympics had at-large spots. In addition to the current formula - they should add 3-5 at large spots for skaters ranked highest in the world but not earning a national team spot. It isn’t right that a top-five/top-ten ranked skater in the world sits at home during Olympics. Russia will be forced to leave skaters off their team that are legitimate podium threats.
