My understanding that they are taking the 1.5 team to Krasnoyarsk to train them closer to China for time zones and what not. I assume it would include isolation requirements.

If team mishin is clever they book differnt flights and appartments than team tuberize.
The Cinese will not be as lenient as russia with covid

I agree. Europeans is a very big risk, especially with the 10 days manadatory quarantine in Estonia if someone tests positive. I wish RusFed would just rent a rink in a city near the Chinese border or something, get the team there and keep them isolated and training there until the Olympics.

They should totally do this!!!! They hold figure-skating in high regard and totally have the funds for this! Pull them all out of Euros and throw em in a bubble I say!!!!

I keep waiting to come here or go to the Russian site and see some of the Russian ladies have tested positive for Coronavirus. After all what happened at us Nationals was horrendous and sad where is positive test for big-name skaters. Remember at Russian Nationals which was only 3 weeks ago there was not a lot of coronavirus protocol and very few masks being worn from what I could see.

They really are playing Russian roulette sending KV to Europeans. This phenom has a better chance to be beaten by coronavirus than by Sasha or Anna. She is almost a lock for Olympic gold if things were normal and we don't know how she will react to being in a bubble in Beijing. She is only fifteen it may blow her mind. Especially since we now know that young fit people are getting hammered with Omicron. The National Football League is having a big problem with this right now and they have young strong athletes..

Keep your fingers crossed let's hope China is not having a big problem with this and let's try to figure out if there is a problem in Estonia with Omicron right now. If there is don't send any of your top skaters or teams it's just not worth it one month before the Olympic team event.

Closer in time zones that Moscow or Petersburg because it is far further to the East. I remember interview prior to the nationals on the plans for preparing the Olympic team, and they said that they will be taking 1.5x team to train, 2x if necessary. I assume it is a standard practice due to injury rate, and in current pandemic conditions it’s even more prudent. I am sure we will know who ends up practicing together before China.

You know what I was just thinking the same thing before I read your post. Well leaving KV and the top pairs team and the top dance team for Russia home for Europeans. Especially if it's not in a bubble. Why risk it?
I will take your idea and keep the entire Olympic team home. Europeans is not a big fish this season it's the Olympics.

I have heard this new variant is like a cold and people go about their day normally I guess it can be the same for athletes if they are asymptomatic.

Maybe create a training camp for the Russian team somewhere and put it in a bubble with a hotel room in it.

How do you know you had Omicron and not Delta or one of the others?

Well Papadakis and cizeron are staying at their home rink to be safe because there’s no bubble and not because they are running away like Averbuck is implying (They hold that title 5 times already).
And to be honest, the most important competition is the Olympic, European takes place every year, it would be dramatic if Kami and Sasha tested positive or get sick just before the olympics.

Send the B team in all 4 disciplines which will also be an amazing team just not quite at the A team level.

I may have thought they robbed the Sofias at Nationals but on the whole, they push their skaters and let the ones with potential shine unlike some other feds.
