I'm sorry I'm not si well informed, what is envelope funding? And why did The US pairs get it?

It’s how skater funding is determined in the US. Places 1-8 at US Nationals receive envelope funding (not the same amount). There are some other comps one can qualify through (say if you get Covid and have to WD from US Nationals).

All the pairs this year get envelope money because there were only 8 of them.
