So off topic, but imagine how my mind was blown recently. My daughter showed me this weird complex multiplication & long division thing they're taught nowadays that's this diagonal craziness. We later talked about it again with examples. My head practically exploded when I realized that when rotating the paper 45 degrees all the numbers are in the same position as the old fashioned vertical long division/multiplication that I was taught back in the day (20+ years ago).

YES! I keep telling people that 'new math' is the same 'old math' we were taught in school, just more intuitive. A lot of the stuff my nibblings are learning in class are the 'cheats' I figure out on my own 25 years ago and then had to hide from the teacher so I didn't get points off!
