Fingers crossed 🤞

Wouldn’t it be ironic if Kolyada costs Russia Team gold four years ago, and then gold this year if other figure skaters from Russia test positive, afterwards. I’m sure Russia would blame him for being the first positive case.
indeed... many athletes have secluded themselves not to risk anything...
Exactly. The number of stakeholders testing positive compared to athletes is concerning.

The Canadian figure skating team are on their way to Beijing, and judging by Roman Sadovsky's selfie, he's taking a lot of precautions to try to ensure that he's COVID-free.

Kolyada had no contact with the rest of the team. If anyone gets blamed it's Mishin and co. for travelling to Krasoyarsk. I've never seen Kolyada blamed even by the haters for this, he did everything correctly.

Go Roman go - but you should wear a toque that you can wash as well. Interesting I saw a story about his coach Tracey Wainman. (It was about 38 years ago his coach was suppose to be the next big thing instead she never made it to an olympic game and now she is going to coach Roman. I guess everyone is learning from Kolyada.

yes, I actually posted that information earlier in this thread. However, what we do not know is if they were athletes or coaches or officials etc...
yup hopefully no Athletes. Also as long they test negative twice between 24 hours they can be released from quarantine.

According to the newspaper a Swedish athlete of the ski team tested positive at arrival. So it’s at least one athlete.

Edit: I just read the article more carefully, this is very interesting... It says the athlete already had covid 2 weeks ago, but had 6 negative tests before departure, but tested positive again at arrival. The athlete can go out of quarantine after having 2 negative tests within 24 hours.

Ugh... I guess it´s because of the higher threshold in the tests. This is a bit worrying for others who just recently had covid :/

well it will happen.... the article I posted about the Canadian athletes mentions that they are expecting some athletes who have contracted covid earlier will probably test positive with residual virus in their system but hoping that they will manage to gain the olympic bubble after testing negative later on... we have to remain hopeful here that the games will not be a last man standing sort of deal... but you know :) as figure skating fans, we are used to this :)

Ok you people, it was posted in the Russian figure skating thread for women that Danny G and Alexander Kogan has tested positive for covid. There is different information now circulating on Twitter, RusFed is apparently denying and Alexander Kogan is writing on social media? that it was a false positive PCR and that he doesn´t have covid and is going on the plane.

Like WTF, if you actually have a positive PCR you don´t go on the plane and expose all the others before you KNOW it´s a false positive??? He won´t get away with anything other than negative test in Beijing so I don´t know what they are thinking now.

This is giving me an ulcer:tantrum:

Yes, I can´t believe he wrote that he is going on the plane if he has a positive PCR? It seems he doesn´t believe in the test and don´t care a shit, the athletes must be terrified if this is the way he acts!

I hope there is some official statement soon. Oooh there are always so much drama when it comes to RusFed and news :palmf:

More news about positive case in Bejing: There are also now 3 more positive cases from the Norwegian ski team (not athletes) who recently had covid, but out of quarantine. They tested negative before departure but they got caught in the tests in China, the newspaper says that the team is reporting that other nations reports about the same issues as well, with people who recently had covid testing positive in China but negative at home. Apparently they are in a dialoge with IOC about this issues, so maybe there will be a solution.

We knew it was going to be a issue, but it´s very stressful reading this.

This is really turning out to be the chaos that we feared :(

I swear if Dany effing G is the reason that Kamila Valieva can't win Olympic gold... the fact that he and Kogan are GETTING ON A PLANE despite the fact that they BOTH tested positive is INSANE. I could understand one false positive, but two? They're going to get turned away in Beijing, along with probably half the team, and it'll be an even bigger mess.

On a positive note, all of Team Japan is negative and ready to head out soon!

Kogan and Danil's presence are not needed in that group! And I'm sure Eteri and Dudakov can do Danil's job easily.

If anyone test positive in Beijing, they won't be turned away but will have to quarantine until they are able to produce 2 consecutive negative results. Only then they are released from quarantine and able to compete.

That is why it is smart to check in really early in Beijing so that just incase you test positive, you have few days to quarantine and hope to God you test negative ASAP so that you can compete to your event. I bet a lot of athletes are realizing that now.

True.

But let Daniel and Kogan stay with Petrosian and Akatieva? That would be best for the Olympic skaters, but Petrosian & Akatieva need to test negative in early March. It would be better if they did not catch the disease, since one can test positive long after symptoms disappear.

Close associates have to quarantine, too.

I can´t believe they risk the whole team´s Olympics experience, just to keep Daniil there. He can´t be that important, right? It is one thing that he is so reckless and only thinks about himself. But I can´t understand that he is allowed to stay with the team.
Is he still working with the girls in close contact? I hope not because they are not vaccinated. I really hope that the athletes don´t pay the price. They have worked so hard to get to the Olympics and it would be so heartbreaking if they would miss the Olympics now.
