Well, I do know someone who can definitely speak and it's Shcherbakova. Her vlogs have been so interesting and professionally made, it even puts many trained journalists to shame! (just so no one takes this wrongly: I have seen exactly zero footage of either Alina or Mamun in Beijing, so this isn't meant as a slight against them lol)

That being said, I'm glad Zhenya and Alina get to be at another Olympics, even if it's not as competitors. They were the faces of 2018 and are still incredibly famous/popular in Russia, so why wouldn't you invite them as ambassadors if you had the chance?! No idea what Mamun's doing there but she's not the first person commentating on a discipline that isn't her own.

Agree, Shcherbakova is very good with her blogs and seems to present herself very well in interviews. I've only seen reposts of her though, curious that there's been nothing from Trusova or Valieva from Russian media like Shcherbakova's vlogs- i wonder if Shcherbakova has a contract or something with 1Tv and I wonder if its indicative of her being on the team event- more promotion of her so she's doing the FS or she has more free time because she's not in the team event

I saw pictures of Mamun with her son, which is the only part of her being there that I didn't understand.

I saw it popping in my TL once in while actually, but I don't know if it's the truth or not since I don't speak Russian obviously but it started to really irk me since the posts usually were quite insulting. I think on the international side, it was TSL or maybe other western FS bloggers ( ? ) who continuously spread that Alina isn't a good public speaker and the journalist major that she is taking was controversial news in Russia or something
It’s not for nothing that she hosted ice age two years in a raw since she pulverized the audimat. I don’t think channel one would hire her again if she didn’t strike. It’s the same for all the shows she has done.
Alina is taking the work seriously, she’s professional and she delivered. I’m not surprised if she wants to work as a sport journalist. She can do whatever she wants, she has fame and support.

Alina reunites the qualities media agents and marketing firms are looking for: attractive, likable, known.
That's the only thing that matters to those people who keep hiring her for these TV jobs. Who cares if she is actually good at it or not, they get their views and sales and Alina gets exposure and money. Win-win situation. Let's just be happy for her, she is not an athlete anymore, these girls don't exactly get the top notch academical education since they barely have time during their childhood and now at the age of 19 she has to find a whole new career for herself that will allow her to pay the bills.

On another note, has it been stated of Daniil plans to fly in as soon as he's negative or was that it for his Olympic appearance? I feel like Anna might need him.
And also logistically, how are Eteri and Sergey supposed to fully be there for all 3 girls in training and at the competition, especially when they also have other disciplines to coach.

In the team competition they will have Morisi tomorrow and possibly Evgenia/Vladimir later if they would be chosen for the free. I bet Sergei will be there for Morisi and for the pair there is Maksim Trankov while Eteri can still supervise the training of the girls. No doubt Daniil would be still useful.

Evgenia Medvedeva has been in Beijing for several days, and she was just supposed to become an ambassador. But so far there are no messages or reports from her. Gossip on Sports.ru has already written that she does not leave the hotel room. Or a positive test, or precautions, I don't know. Anyway, she should comment on the competition, so the situation will clear up soon.

Meanwhile, Zagitova has already visited the rink where the competition will take place, and said that she instantly had memories, and she even had a fantastic desire to go on the ice as part of the team.

Trankov has said that T/M are unlikely to participate in the team event

They aren't listed in the starting orders, it's M/G instead.

And this is what Trankov said about T/M and the team event. Not sure if he meant they only won't do the SP or team event as a whole.

I kind of hope the fed didn't decide to not switch any discipline at all. Leaving either Sasha or Anna without a guaranteed OGM after all the work they've done this quad just feels wrong… Although personally, I'm still hanging onto the delusional hope of a Anna+Kamila combo getting Gold in the team event and Sasha winning individual so they're all Olympic Champions:biggrin:

maybe this will motivate her to do one more season :)

Hello guys I m a bit confuse, why is Mamun everywhere ? Like she was on that Channel 1 Cup, Nats then here as well. Might as well invite Adelina don't you think ? Everyone also keep saying that Alina cant really talk, but she keeps getting the gigs, so which one is the truth ?
Yeah I dont why she latched herself into skating considering she's rhythmic gymnast. I would understand if she's just a general sports host for 1tv but she's seems to be exclusively in there for skating. This would be like Simone Biles taking over Tara. What does she even do? I mean does she even know how to tell the difference between a loop and a salchow.
Also is Evgenia stuck in her hotel. Cause it seems like Alina is getting all the 1tv gigs. I havent heard Alina commentate before so maybe they are going to leave that for Evgenia. Alina will get to be one in front of the camera in the TV studio sofa in nice makeup and outfits while we only hear Evgenia voice commentating from her hotel room

As some guy or a lady once said, "it's highly unlikely". One can't imagine the level of sacrifice she will have to endure with a very questionable outcome. I myself today have resumed exercises and it took me a lot of "negotiation with myself". And one can't compare plain workouts with competitive training in Russian women's figure skating. I am sure that she skates for fun every now and then.

And getting back to her old level would not be competitive in her country, I think we saw in 19-20 that competing with no hope of winning is not something she's interested in, which is understandable - who would be content with going to CS Lombardi for your highlight international event when you have went to/won the biggest events there are

Well the lady for the SP is not confirmed still:

They only confirmed skaters for tomorrow, maybe they want to spare Kami and put her into the team event only in case they would need a guaranteed victory in the SP.

I would love to see Shcherbakova and Trusova split it because Valieva seems like such a lock for the individual OGM and all 3 would go home with gold medalists, but I think this delay is more about getting confirmed clean PCR tests. Why would they pass up Valieva for the SP when her triple axel is so consistent.

Well, this isn't surprising. Media always had a line about Zagitova. Making fun of her (while praising Medevdeva) is good for business. Media (traditional or big SM accounts) always takes the side of the most popular one. More or less agressively.
The trash can of hell AKA TSL was lately chasing for likes and follows with a twit saying that they like that Medvedeva is coming for Zagitova's job.
This started when she was litteraly a child. Strangely her age didn't even stop them like it did with others. I think that known media/people publicly trashing a 15yo girl for hits is actually dangerous for mental health and worse than anonymous posts in forums.

But the good thing is that girl just keep slaying in their faces.

What a great idea! Anna/Sasha for the team! It doesn't matter if either one of them makes a mistake in the short, it would be just a a point or two loss.

All the big teams are holding out until the bitter end it seems. Japan and USA have not announced their women either. So I don't think it has anything to do with PCR tests.

TSL should be banned by the ISU for posting slander and made up conspiracy theories.

I think Kami will skate both programs for the team event to give Anna and Sasha more time for the single.
The girls just recovered and they don’t want them to risk more injuries before the single knowing Sasha is aiming for 5 quads and Anna just restored her quads
