2022 Olympics: Men's Free Skate

So happy for Shoma's skate. I need to change the color of the medal in my avatar, but that's fine by me. He worked SO hard to get on that podium. Nerves got to him tonight, and expectations were a lot different than in 2018. But he's had a lot of adjustments after leaving his forever coach, moving to Switzerland -- but he has still stood tall. Going home with 2 medals! Not bad, including a stellar short program in the individual and the Team Event! :hb:

Watching the NBC broadcast, the side view of the commentators watching Nathan’s skate, Terry w glasses rocking out to the step sequence. Let me find out Terry Gannon is DADDY
My wife and I are gonna watch the T and J show tomorrow night....final two groups....

Well my Internet has gone down. I do thank it for staying up until after the event was concluded. Will have to look for Adam crying tomorrow

My two children here DELIVERED. Jun, you were gorgeous. Junandot got its Olympic moment. And even though Yuma's TE FS was far better, he held it together with medals on the line. :party2:

Unfortunately my step-child Mark did not quite hold it together, but it's fine, the TE was his moment.

Well while it was not quite as stellar as the short program, it was still a magical night of skating. And it was a genuine pleasure to share it with the people on this board. Twas a real treat for me, since most of my family and friends are the epitome of Beyond Casual Skating Fans. Wayyyyyyy beyond.

:thank:
Me, too! Some of my friends enjoy skating but none are as bonkers as yours truly. It's so nice (and comforting) to be among my own kind.
I tend not to hang out on GS if it's not an Olympic year and always forget what a nice place it is. 😘

Had Jason done a triple Salchow instead of a double, he'd have been fourth.

But that would be greedy, because that free skate gave me everything I wanted from it. Clean and happy Brendan, clean and happy Jason, SBs all round.

Though I will take a moment to be mildly salty that all the clueless Aussie press will see will be "16th" next to Brendan's name, that they won't understand that he literally had the competition of his career - that at many events it would have produced incredible results - it was just that he happened to be skating in this golden era field.
