I got into a webcomic about hockey-playing penguins and now I know way too much about people suing the NHL. WHYYYYYY.

We've had a few gray days now, relieved occasionally by a pretty, white, light covering of snow ... enough to coat all the trees, especially pretty on the evergreens, but not enough to weight them down. So today, after doing errands in the unrelieved gray, I looked out the window from where I was having lunch, and lo and behold, there was a glimmer in the southern sky where the sun was trying her best to break through some thick, intermittent cloud cover.

So naturally, I paid my bill and raced to the beach (which is still my happy place, notwithstanding all the snow fences). And with a little bit of patience, after rolling down a window for a lovely twenty minutes of listening to the roaring and crashing Lake Michigan waves, during which time I was rewarded for my patience by feeling a sense of calm and peace and acceptance that reminded me of being with my grandmother, I was doubly rewarded. The sun broke through a cloudbank, turning the lighthouse a whiter white, creating a straight-line vertical silver rainbow-like wall, and making the waves glimmer and gleam. Such contrast almost hurt my eyes for a moment. It was glorious!

I was so excited at the chance to get back into ice skating, especially with my new ice skates that I can fit my orthotics into.

Just in time for the Governments of Australia and my state in particular to COMPLETELY drop the ball in our COVID response and let Omicron take over.

Now I'm on holiday from work for three weeks and I basically have to stay at home...rather than risk going to the rink as it'll be crowded and I also haven't been able to get a booster because the Government f'ed that up too.

I do wonder who voted for these people because I sure as Heck didn't.

Ahh, you know, they have been practising their off-ice jumps much more diligently than I, so naturally they are all trixelling across the lake.

I’m just hoping the rest of US nationals goes well. I know some people are wanting it to be cancelled. And I can see why, but I want the skaters to skating in front of an audience in the music city! And the thrill to skate during the last huge event for most of the skaters that qualify go to the Olympics. Man. I can’t wait to go home to watch the stream.

Apparently it wasn't premediated, he was ruled insane, got out of jail early on good behavior, apparently got arrested again for something else (which they never specify in the article), and is still playing hockey in Slovakia.

Found out a while ago thru DNA test I am 3rd cousin to Abraham Lincoln, 6x removed thru his mother Nancy Hanks on my paternal grandmother’s side and I am still in shock.. don’t think my Dad knew this. A nice connection ..

I felt so upset yesterday about what’s going on regarding Kamila. I know she’s allowed to skate and is skating, and a lot of people are mad about it (Which I understand why), but I feel like regardless if she’s on or off the podium, it’s not going to be a happy outcome.

I'm so tired of people pitting others against each other. Saying that doing something so small and minute mean something disgraceful. Saying that one has to be against each other because of stuff. Stuff like that tears each other apart and can make situations worse.
