2022-23 Russian Local Events – Discussion

Churkina/Frolov - Love the House of the Rising Sun and their hippie-ish costumes :)

Their sticking with the emotional theme this season - that's okay, but I like them when they are fast and more energetic. Doesn't matter, I love them anyway.

OMG, Andrey Mirin! Do you have to have a paint brush on your head?! :D

Other than that, a very fun and energetic performance...plus, I like the various shades of green on his costume.
 
Lovely fiery Olé Programme for Omelchenko/Astakhov! The influence of Ramil Mekhdiev is visible. I like it a lot.
 
Chernyshova/Antonyshev are a really great combination. Great to watch and costumes that really fit the music.
 
Very entertaining event. I'm particularly happy for Milana and Pavel who deservedly got bronze! (y) (y) (y)

No, I think with the Novice group anything goes. One girl who missed every jump (and was last in the SP, near last in the FS) had blazing speed, skating skills and personality on the ice. All of her jumps were 'almost', as she went into them with big speed, just lost the landing edge and a bit off on every one. She'll be back. Really a cute group with many adorable routines and fun to watch-novice or not. One common thing I saw though with the juniors and novice girls is spins that needed work-the Japanese and Koren top girls are way ahead of the game on adjusting to new spin scoring. (Even if spins don't count as much as jumps, there are alot of points being lost)

spins are really something they need to adjust to but they are novice skaters so they have time.
 
I may have asked this before, but if so, I forgot the answer. Why wasn't Matvei Vetlugin at SPB test skates? And don't tell me he's injured as well.
