Hey, does anyone know some good biographies about figure skaters which are currently available? Especially about pairs or men! ...:)

Hey..
I know, I have allready asked for books about skaters.. But, I want to ask a second time. ;D You gave me a list with lots of biographies but most of them are currently not availiable. I search for a book which I can buy at a bookstore and don't have to look at the used ones...
Do you know any examples??

Dorothy Hamill, Rudy Galindo, Sasha Cohen. Peggy Flemming, Tollar Cranston, Katia Goordeva. Oksana Baul, Michelle Kwan, Tara Lipinski, Nancy Kerrigan, Scott Hamilton, Elvis Stoyko...and the list goes on and on. If you get a chance go to amazon.com or google.com and do a search for biographies of figure skaters...you will find many...some are autobiographies.....some are biographies.

The Second Mark is really good. I don't remember who it's by, but it's a biography about Sale & Pelltier, Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze and Shen & Zhao.

Alexei Yagudin, but it's available in Japanese and has only been published in Japan so far.
Katarina Witt, though it concentrates on her past when she was observed by the Stasi and her problems with that matter.

"Landing It" by Scott Hamilton

"My Sergei" by Katia Gordeeva is still in print IIRC

if you can find a copy on amazon or ebay "Forcing the Edge" by Kurt Browning is very good though way outdated (it was published before 92 Olys, well at least my copy, I think there was a revised one that came out right after?)

The Second Mark is really good. I don't remember who it's by, but it's a biography about Sale & Pelltier, Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze and Shen & Zhao.

It's by Mark Lund

Mark Lund wrote "Frozen Assets" ,Joy Goodwin wrote "The Second Mark". I really enjoyed both books , but esp. The Second Mark it has such great background information on the 3 pair teams and what happened at the 2002 games!

I also really liked Scott Hamiltons book Landing It! He includes his battle with cancer and other health issues he had as a kid!

whoops, my bad  it's hard to keep up with it all.

I have the first issue of Scott's autobiography, I know there have been a couple revisions since 99, but I really really liked it. It's interesting to see inside someone I've always admired.

I love the stories he tells on some of the skaters - Paul Wylie, Brian Orser (the quarters story had me rolling!), Kurt Browning... great book

I enjoyed all of Toller Cranston's books on skating
:
Ice Cream, 30 of the Most Interesting Skaters in History
Zero Tollerance (autobiography)
When Hell Freeezes Over, Should I Bring My Skates?

Some of my faves...

Off the top of my head...

- My Sergei by Ekaterina Gordeeva
- Boitano's Edge by Brian Boitano
- Orser: A Skater's Life by Brian Orser

Skate Talk by Steve Milton is my favorite skating book to date. It isn't a biography of any one skater, but it has interesting interviews by many skaters and others involved with the sport. There's quite a range of topics in the book. :)

Of all the ones I've read my 2 favorites were: My Sergei by Katia Gordeeva & Icebreaker by Rudy Galindo.

Also, when you know what books you want, go to allbookstores.com and you will get a list of all the places you can get them at discounts, the prices, taxes, shipping, etc. Some are used but I have never had a problem with any in any way.

well i know The Long Program by Paggy Fleming is supposed to be very good, Sasha's Fire on Ice is light reading (more slanted for younger readers) but nice. Scott Hamilton's book is in all the stores.
