I guess a good placement for M/T, they seem fairly happy. She actually smiled a little bit!

Sacks/Akolzin
Scent of a Woman
Red & black

SBS 2A, clean
2Twist, not high but secure
Throw 3S (I think) - step out
Spread eagles into lasso lift, nice
Steps not difficult but smooth and pretty
Death spiral without any ugly variations
SBS spins, nicely in sync (and a SBS layback position!)
Pairs spin in both directions

That was well done!

I mean, I don't hate S/S. I think they're a hell of a lot more interesting than Z/Z and if it's between those two teams for Gold - and it probably is - I am in the German camp. But I still feel like a lot of their movements are contrived and they only think about points, numbers, CoP rules, blah. Whereas D/D's skating is more pure and works under any system of judging.

But I also have a problem with S/S's LP music. It never builds or creates excitement. I often have a problem with Cirque du Soleil programs like theirs.

I think the "contrived" moves that S/S does are the finest example of how to make the new system work for a team. Their power and confidence make them appealing, and also makes their LP work for them - rather than relying on the music, they have the strength to generate excitement with their skating. D/D are certainly very sensitive, beautiful skaters, but they don't have the raw energy of S/S.

I agree. I also fear for D/D when Davison lifts her. He just doesn't seem to have enough strength.

Zhangs
Piano Fantasy (blech if you ask me)
White, black, gold

3Twist - huge, as always
Throw 3R - huge and light
SBS 3S - clean as well
Pairs spin, not terribly attractive
They have all these transitions but they don't seem to add much to the program
Lasso lift into star variation into difficult dismount, unusual
SBS spins, not great speed but in sync all the way through
Steps, not the prettiest but clean and good speed
Death spiral with change-of-hand

That was probably their most "emotive" skate all season.

74.36 - 1st (blehhhh)

Zhang/Zhang.. TEchnically good, but still, very stiff performance, a step sequence was just so steady and boring... And it really does not help that she smiles a bit throughout the programme... I dont get their marks!!

Zhangs CHN
Piano Fantasy
Seem to have los of speed
Gigantic 3twist
SOlid Throw 3r
Solid SBS 3S
Pairs Spin Awkward transitions but nice positions
Presenting better than they normally do
Really giving it their all
Lift, difficult entrance and exit
SBS spins fast and in unison perfectly
Footwork kinda clumsy but unison very good
SPirals into Death Spiral
Great Performance for Them! Probably gonna lead

Zhang/Zhang had a lovely skate. I haven't bothered to watch them much this season (not since Paris) but boy, they have improved a lot over the years and their basic skating skills and spins are so much better. Also skating with more speed now than when they won the Olympic Silver.

We'll see what the judges do........

Wow, a 74.36. Into first and the Germans will have to fight to come back.

WOW - Zhang/Zhang. Incredible skate. Into first and they deserved to be. They were a different pair out there. Everything about their skating has improved big time.

Russian TV just did a rerun of S/S. Z/Z do deserve to be in 1st, but if the Germans go clean in the LP they will definitely win...but has anyone actually gone completely clean in the LP this season?

wow, that was great for Zhang/Zhang! Thanks for the pbp! Glad for D/D and the young chinese pair D/W. Good for M/T. Sounds like an exciting competition!
