Wow - Is Marco ever tiny! He's about the height of the women on the podium, and I don't think any of them are particularly tall.

That's why he is part of the small and mighty club along with Shoma & Jean-Luc.

So very happy for Piper and Paul after health interruption to this season. I have loved their unique and expressive skating for many years. My heart may not agree with judges but so happy I got to see their programs here in Japan.

that skating order in the RD was something else... it really had an impact on the event.

When I saw the judging panel I knew it was going to be interesting.

Australian and British judges...not liking the Canadian teams... so much for Commonweatlh... especially since without IAM, there would be very little ice dance in the Commonweath countries (outside of Canada)...

True, but without the fall, this program scores in the 58’s for PCS. On another note, I seriously think Piper’s injury directed this result. Momentum is HUGE in ice dance, and they couldn’t score match w Madi and Evan after GPF to re-assert themselves on top of the pecking order. Also, Piper and Paul skated small here, not quite tentative, per se, but not w the largesse of Madi and Evan or the precision of the Italians (minus Marco’s errors).

I'm a former elite ice dancer, I know how this works. I also know what I'm looking at.

Absolutely!!!! I had the privilege to see them live and they take your breath away. Beautiful performers and skaters.

Exactly. Paul has technique that not many have and is rare to see and Piper has very much improved. They should have easily had silver.

the Italian judge didn't go against the overall ranking indeed (looked top 5 only). Good for them ! But.. is that overall ranking correct ? HA !

the prize is for an abstract concept exquisitely conceived and so richly felt it is above the mundane.. pure Duende

should be the final result for top 5, but tech panel was obviously at a different competition. LOL

I am calling Skate Canada so they start politicking for a podium sweep next year in Montreal. I think our skaters have built up enough karma in the last couple years for it.

Well the theme of C/B program was about wind that fans a spark into a flame providing it oxygen so that it grows. Eventually all are fires are extinguished. If that isn't an abstract metaphor for this pairing then I don't know what a metaphor and theme are. Beginning and ending in a love knot inspired by their engagement ring surely seems the way to extinguish this teams competitive days. For me it is a sad day as I will miss their creativity and willingness to take risks. For those of you not fans please feel free to celebrate when they announce they are done = I hope it solves all your problems.
