So for next year's Worlds, USA and Canada have 3 spots each (Canada picks up one), Italy keeps 2, GBR has 2 (picks up one), Lithuanians, Czechs, Finns get 2 each (picking up an extra each). Japan finishes out of top 10/ still only gets one...bummer. France barely keeps 2. Is this right?

yes ! I am all for the half full glass. Both Canadian teams skated brilliantly tonight ! They both had an excellent competition ! Bravo !
My parrots turned into crows will be in Montreal next year !! YAY !!! Bravo !!!! As for the rest, the Italians... definitely not my cup of tea.. a couple mistakes... but good job for them....

But you know what, winning a title with a big mistake isn't ever going to sink well. That's just sad.. I wished they had won the title with a perfect program.

And again, the world is watching and, if some dedicated fans will understand that the fall wasn't costly in the context of elements, the once a year fans will be wondering how in the world is the team with the biggest mistake still earns a season's best and the title.... again, I repeat myself, it's not good for the sport when people cannot make sense of the scoring... ISU needs to do better if they want to keep people engaged.
Well said! The Canadians teams both put on an excellent show in both programs, and they should be very proud of their performances. :)

Ice dance judging is puzzling to us, the hard-core fans, so how in the world can a casual viewer be expected to understand it?? I just checked the protocols, and Maddie and Evan got straight 9.75s from two judges and tons of 9.50s, which does not make sense when they had a major error.

Why make rules about PCS capping when there is a fall, if judges don't follow them ?

No - c/b are far superior. G/p were the most overrated couple of all time.
No Gri/Pla were not overrated, they were superb technicians.
Many do not like that they beat Torvill & Dean but it happened.

but it did interrupt the flow of their program.
True, but without the fall, this program scores in the 58’s for PCS. On another note, I seriously think Piper’s injury directed this result. Momentum is HUGE in ice dance, and they couldn’t score match w Madi and Evan after GPF to re-assert themselves on top of the pecking order. Also, Piper and Paul skated small here, not quite tentative, per se, but not w the largesse of Madi and Evan or the precision of the Italians (minus Marco’s errors).
