2023 World Team Trophy Men's Free Skate

Canadian men will be Canadian men... Unfortunately. And it's not a lack of talent, and (unlike the women) not a lack of competitive experience holding them back. 😥
I am not willing to generalize... look at this flight... what are Matteo and the two Japanese men doing here in the first flight?

My god the number of pops and mis-cues. I know that he has been taught better than this. He needs to really start taking his skating more seriously. There is a pecking order in his rink and with Ilia moving there full time most likely he is going to fall fast if he does not stop doing this because it seems like he either can not or will not do what is needed to be done.

Sato’s spins, especially that last one, still look as if they were beaten with an ugly stick. Still, that was a redemption skate. He should move up quite a bit.

Shun just all but doubled what Stephen's GOE and he just found he was skating in this event last week. He is skating for Japan's pride a bit here but well done

Aw no how much did I miss! I was at church and forgot what time this started!

All of the Pairs, and the first two guys.

But, don't worry, there's plenty of entertainment to come. Keegan's up shortly!

I kind of like his short, but this is just... there's nothing besides the jumps, no silky shirt can hide that. I am also just in general annoyed with all these people going for 4Ltz when they don't have the basics that in my eye should come before that.

Aww I missed Gogo, but it looks like it didn't go well for him. I'm sad for him!

Sihyeong's in da house, but he's dressed down today!

Sure, other countries have inconsistent skaters too - But I don't think any other country has as many consistently inconsistent male skaters as Canada, and basically no skater that's consistent. Even Keegan is not known for being consistent, and he's by far the most consistent out of the current crop of top Canadians.

I'm not trying to be rude to the skaters, but I do have to wonder if there's something going on in Canada that might predispose their skaters to be less consistent, or if it's just by chance that everything is coming together like this.
