2023-24 Programs by Discipline

We needed Keegan to skate to that.

EDITED TO ADD: Jason Brown is probably the only eligible men's skater right now that could do that justice with feet and quirkiness. :)

Just curious - what is the song you guys are talking about?

All I can see is this message:

"Video unavailable
The uploader has not made this video available in your country"

But, because Keegan and Jason are being suggested, I'm now intrigued!

For Alexei Mishin's 80th birthday celebration, Alexander Samarin prepared a parody of Mishin to Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice. Say what you want about Samarin's artistry, but he has some of the more creative exhibition programs.

There used to be an excellent TV version of the performance on youtube, now all that is left is this fan recording from rather far away.

Thank you for posting this.

I am taking the liberty of embedding the IG post, because some posters/lurkers do not have access to IG and/or Twitter, and it does have a clip of Jason's program:

Fatboy Slim - Weapon of choice (video features Christopher Walken dancing)

Thank you, @Rikku!!!  :points:

:thank:

I just looked it up, and here is the copy that works in the UK:

I have heard that song many times, but had never seen the video before. (Probably because I didn't know what the song was called, or who it was by!)

Funnily enough, Christopher Walken was in one of the films I was thinking of watching today, "War With Grandpa" (2020). But, in the end, I opted for "Little Monsters" (1989) instead.

Boys, but I would love to see an Ice Dance programme based on that film! There was some great music in it! And the plot would make it really fun.

Well that was fun.
I didn't expect that Samarin would be the skater so good for him for bringing the fun.

Loena Hendrix, new SP. The usual. I think it's time for her to show us a different style.

caveat: I haven't heard the songs in full.
That being said, just listening to what little you can hear in the clip, for now I'll go with "meh". I feel like between last year's SP, last year's gala program, the exhibition she did before to "Circus", and now this, Loena's been taking us to the club often enough.

Exactly... so why would anyone sings the Duke's song???? ugh...
and yes for your gif too..
because somebody has to play the villain. no villain no fight:wink:
no one can say no to Cersei

Eta: Sorry, I just realized it's already been posted above.
Yeah... We need something elegant from Loena. For me its little bit cheap. I love Loena but i really think that her Celine Dion program suited her better than this.
By the way i heard Eva-Lotta Kiibus is doing Celine Dion this season but No official Statement.

I keep hoping someone or a team will skate to Right Here, Right Now

The Jesus Jones song? If so, that's a 90s song so the ice dancers couldn't use it but another discipline could.

Have to admit, I hadn't heard tell of Jesus Jones or his song before. But, I just listened to it, and I loved it!!!

Jesus Jones - "Right Here, Right Now"

Thank you for introducing me to both song and singer, @Ic3Rabbit !  :points:

:thank:

When I saw the song title in @labgoat's post, I automatically thought that it was this song that was being referred to:

Fatboy Slim - "Right Here, Right Now"

And given that their next suggestion was also by Fatboy Slim... ;)

Anyway, the Fatboy Slim song wouldn't fit the timeframe for the Ice Dancers either, as it is from 1999.

BUT, any song by The Housemartins (the band Norman Cook first found success as the bassist in, before he started performing as Fatboy Slim) would be within the timeframe for Ice Dance.

Please be aware that it turns out that the song I suggested for The Housemartins over in the Ice Dance thread, "Caravan Of Love" (1986), wouldn't actually be eligible, as it is a cover. However, the original version by the Islay Brothers would be, as it was only released a year earlier:

Islay Brothers - "Caravan Of Love"

But it isn't anywhere near as good as The Housemartins' cover. (I started listening to the original there now, and I had to take it off! And that is not something I often do when listening to music).

The Housemartins! Takes me back, right there (although what I listened to at the time in the '80s was considerably heavier). Also, I was more into The Smiths, myself.

I was wishing dance teams would have done some '80s house, myself. Alas, it will probably not be meant to be...

It was never intended for ice dance on my part - cause I know how to use a calendar - duh!
I thought it would be a fun short program for singles or pairs or a fun exhibition.

same here.... it's fine that some skaters are not versatile artists... There are many even among the top ones who keep bringing back same old same old... but yeah... though it is fine, it gets boring for us, dedicated fans.
