Now Usacheva is said to maybe retire? I can hardly keep up with all the fs news since yesterday...
I think this was expected. She hasn't competed since 2021 and never had ultra-c.

She's another victim of the ISU with their highly discriminatory quota system.

Even without international bans, there would be no chance to skate internationally for Russia.

If she were German she would be able to beat Nicole Schott every day of the week and could skate into her mid to late 20s.

The usual crowd will make nasty remarks about her being another Eteri victim, but the reality there is zero prospects of her ever skating internationally again with a maximum of three spots internationally for a country like Russia.

What are the Russian federation or Eteri supposed to do. Drop Petrosian for Usacheva?

Well done to the ISU killing another career.

Sad though I am to see Daria retire, to say she would never skate internationally again is not necessarily true. I'm guessing you mean she would have no chance at attending Worlds or Europeans, because she would certainly have a chance to skate at GP events/the GPF and the Challenger series, which are international events.

Figure skater Sofia Samodelkina did not apply to the Kazakh Federation with the question of transition.
This was reported in the Union of skaters of Kazakhstan.
"Sofia Samodelkina has not yet appealed to the republican federation. She became a citizen of Kazakhstan, she has a passport, but she did not say anything to the federation about her goals and intentions.
At the moment she is just a citizen of Kazakhstan. I can't comment on anything, because there has been no dialog with the Russian side yet," said Nadezhda Perfilieva, executive director of the federation.

Teaser of some Team Tutberidze short programs

Previews seems cool but, am I the only one who wishes Kamila would skate again to more classical music?

I like her SP, but perhaps wish she did something more sophisticated and solemn for her FS. Not that this current programs seems particularly bad or anything, though. Just feel her style of dance fits sensitive classical very well; always powerful when she chooses such music. I feel like she made her name and greatness through real traditional artistry, her uniqueness was never overt or flashy like Trusova, but came from her sincere artistry and profound sensitivity.

Anyways, I am most excited for Adeliia's programs; both give the impression of first class skating. Hope the dresses do the programs justice as well.

Gosh, I was hoping to see her this season, but I guess she still needs to recover regardless of which fed she choses? Having citizenship though is great.

More than 3 people compete in GP, and athletes got their chances, like Samodurova or Tuktamysheva. Usacheva was on the way to qualify for GPF when she received career ending injury in the warm-up. And, given current judging that is extremely hard on higher jumps, it well could have been that Usacheva's stability would have been preferable internationally to ultra-c, particularly if her biometrics survived puberty. Actually, at the moment, she would have been competitive when no-one delivers stability with ultra-c within Russia and remains in competitive shape entire season.

Ok, I'm late to the party on these topics since I just joined the forum, but upon reading this entire thread I'd like to address a couple points I feel strongly about:

Firstly, early in this thread there were some comments that Valieva's exhibition performance, as well as the age rule change, make her a clear favourite amongst Russians this season. I think Valieva is, all things considered, the most impressive figure skater I've ever seen. But, to say that at this point in time she makes someone like Petrosian look "amateurish" (directly quoted, the word which was used) is delusional and just disrespectful. Moreover, adding to that suggesting shes already a favourite for the nationals against the likes of the aforementioned Adeliia, or Muravieva and Akateva, is at best a baseless shot in the dark prediction. I'd love to hear any actual constructive arguments as to why anyone thinks this. Not saying she might not still prove that shes the best but come on, give these other girls some respect.

Furthermore I take massive issue with how grossly people are devaluing Trusova. As a foreword I'll mention that I dont even have Trusova in my top 10 - I'm not at all a fan of her and I have zero bias to this point. But people saying Zhillina is already a "better" Trusova? I can't tell if I'm being trolled or something. You people are limiting Trusova's athleticism to only her quad records, but thats such a shortsighted disposition towards what athleticism even is. To start I'd say her athletic prowess has almost nothing to do with quads but her core strength and stability - I've never seen Zhillina pull off a cantilever like Trusova or anything equivalent to it. Zhillina can jump, perhaps comparably to Trusova but even so not to any extent thats obviously "better" by any objective measure and even if it was she still wouldn't hold a candle to who Trusova is as a complete athlete. Zhillina's turns, spins, kicks, speed and other stablization reliant elements such as the aforementioned cantilever are nothing like Trusova's. Zhillina explodes off the ice, while Trusova constantly demonstrates otherworldly natural mobility and stabalizing strength worthy of a gymnast or freestyle wrestler. Hilarious - people were really arguing that Trusova is just another starved, weightless girl and thats why she could land quads - really? Her father is a master of sport in all 3 olympic schools of wrestling - she was born to be both mobile and powerful. And for the record, Zhillina is 1.42m, I doubt shes pushing far over 40kg herself so whats the sense in this argument anyways? As an athlete its just frustrating to see how uneducated people are about what it means to be athletic. This worshipping of Zhillina is the most obscene case of recency bias I've ever seen - lets wait for her even step into adult competition before we start considering Trusova subordinate to her in any way? And of course, as you've all admitted there's not any need to bring up artistry. Just give Titova some time; I'm not even convinced Zhillina is the best Russian junior of this generation. Please keep Trusova's name out of your mouths.

Reading this just makes me think you've never truly watched Nika - And I say that as someone who would name Sasha as one of my favourite skaters.

Because you surely cannot be talking of this Veronika Zhilina's spins:

Or these kicks - though this would double as a "stabilisation reliant element", would it not?

In trying to prop up Sasha, the only thing you're doing is trying to unjustly bring down another skater - Exactly what you are accusing others of. There's no shame in preferring one skater over the other, but there's is shame in doing so without being able to acknowledge that the preferred skater is not superior in all things. Nobody is perfect, including skaters, and it's not a bad thing.

Ok fair, reading again I was indeed down playing Nika (although it wasnt my intention). But I think Trusova was far beyond what you just posted? Not sure if you thought I was implying Nika's elements were mediocre or something (she's extremely high level, thats obvious and I respect her skating greatly) - the point was Trusova is another level. And no, Trusova isnt superior in "all things", but as a complete athlete I think the argument is very strong for her being pretty far clear of Nika.

In any case calling Nika a "better Trusova" is blashphemous. Trusova was a revolution in figure skating athletics, Nika is just not that or close to it by any interpretation. Trusova did what she did when nobody else was even on her heels, Nika is competing in an era where thats no longer beyond the standard. No offense to her, she could totally evolve more but shes just not there yet.

At the same age (10 years old), Sasha definitely did not have spins that were far beyond the spin in the first video (see here - More travel (though both did travel, obviously) and notably slower once she reached the (hyperextended) Biellman compared to Nika) and to be very honest, her spins were always just decent. She did the best with her natural data, but she's not a spinner and never has been.

I thought Nika was a lot older in that clip. Impressive. You're selling me on her.

Comparing age to age of different generations is a bit of a fallacy though. Anyone can develop faster or slower and hit different milestones at different ages. What matters is career peak and peer relativity; of course we cant judge career peak for Nika but would you not say that Sasha's athleticism deviated a lot more from her peers than Nika's? Maybe you wouldn't, in which case I wont argue back. And don't reference 10 y/o Sasha - what matters in this case would be current Nika (lets say last season) relative her peers and then Sasha to hers at the same point in her career. From what I understand, Sasha already broke records at 13? Or was it a bit later?

The kicks you posted though I would indeed say are below Sasha. Pretty sure Sasha hits a full extension on the standing leg. But Im past these isolated examples at this point.

Is there any basis for the rumors that Sasha left team Sokolovskaya?

Only thing I know is that Sokolovskaya has not posted a single thing about Sasha during the china shows while posting about Mark and Samarin?

Team Sokolovskaya also deletes all comments about Sasha.
Comments on where btw? They seemed to have unfollowed on instagram as well.

Thats really sudden, everything seemed fine just few weeks ago. She seemed to really like it there and get along very well with Sokolovskaya. Im actually really shocked. I guess she will go back to AOP then?

They unfollowed? Thats weird. In a very recent (week or 2 ago) interview Sasha was talking about how she likes Sokolovskaya's camp and it all works great especially because she gets to spend time with Mark. And Sasha was training with Samodelkina recently at Sokolovskaya's camp.

Also from what I understand, she has still technically been part of Plushenko's camp this whole time? In the same interview she referenced Plushenko as her "main" trainer or something along those lines.

It's so sudden and really shocking. I don't want to speculate as we dont even know if she really I s gone but something does kinda jump out to me as the reason if she really left.
