Yep the end of their results record suggested that

Ben is SUPER tall, and as Brooke is taller than most pairs women, I think there was an opportunity for them to show something different, long lines etc. It is really working out for them.

I saw a bunch of the junior pairs before covid years at CQE. It's quite something to see how things evolve. Laurin Éthier for instance, I didn't think they would gel so well. Right now, from what I saw at CQE a month ago, they have improved a lot and their skating skills and presentation matured up too, and are top 15 in the world (well... i believe). Carignan Pierro took a break for a while and are starting back. Maxime Deschamps is helping them with some elements. They will be at SGÉ. I don't think they are nearly as strong as the other senior pairs in Canada but, that's exactly my point : I never thought Laurin and Éthier had it... and they surely do. So who knows what will happen in the Canadian pairs scene.

Martina and Charly have a bunch of years of eligibility in juniors yet they have similar BV as the senior teams.

And watch out for Beau Callaghan. Just out of novices. She's only 13. A future star.

Also interesting that Marjorie/Zachary have a second Challenger. I wonder what the criteria for that is since the men could use more Challengers.

In Zach and Marjo's case, perhaps it is to make sure their world standing is as high as possible ahead of Montreal worlds? Not doing worlds last year means that they only have 4CC points which are of course, lower. If that's the reason for it, then bravo to the Fed

Lajoie & Lagha have been doing two Challengers per season ever since they turned senior. It's fairly atypical for Canadian dance teams (though the first few, F-B/S were also doing two), but it's consistent.

It is very atypical indeed. It's probably because they are a younger team. If has often happened that our dancers got shafted in world standings because of not doing these events. (Piper and Paul for instance)

Kemp/Elizarov were initially listed for JGP Istanbul. Are they injured? This event is more stacked than last week. It already has a promising pair team of Desrochers/Thrasher for Canada, plus two promising American teams and probably the overall favorites to win everything in Jr. pairs this year (Georgians). Did SC decide to move them to maximize chances?

They will be competing in the next two events, so perhaps that's true... but in pairs really, all the events are pretty stacked. The easiest one was probably the first one.

It's good that Fiona got a senior Challenger finally, also good to see Gabriel and Hensen/Lickers getting one too!

I won't be surprised if Roman withdraws, the interviews last week mentioned that Skate Canada would be his first competition due to his injury. But he has a spot if he's ready.

For the GP skaters, that leaves Gilles/Poirier and Lauriault/LeGac left without Challengers. G/P didn't do one last year, so I guess the same this year. For Lauriault/LeGac, maybe they'll do Budapest? That's the last one before the GP starts.

Canada was not eligible to enter someone for the women category for this event?

On page 16 of the Junior Grand Prix announcement, Canada has 1 entry for 6 events for women. Yerevan is the event where Canada doesn't have an entry. Page 3 has the details on how countries can pick up extra entries if they're in category b (1 entry for 7 events) if countries in categories a-c choose not to use their entries. Canada is category c, so not eligible to pick up a spot for women even if they're available.

But since Canada was the first country in category b for the men thanks to Wesley's placement at JWC, they were able to pick up additional entries for the men.

I would agree with Skate Canada's strategy in this instance to spread our the JGP spots across this seasons "top" 6 female junior skaters to gain the international experience. That being said the result at Junior Worlds being so crucial in determining the number of available spots one has on the JGP circuit the following year, would make me think that SC should send the best age eligible woman(s) to junior world championship.
