2023-24 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 3 - Krasnoyarsk

There seems to be a bigger crowd than a non-Russian event I watched in the last day. Great effort for a domestic event! A new international sponsor Chery by the look of it too.
I usually go to a few events a year, but I won't spend the money anymore until the Russians are back-nothing to do with politics, I just want to watch great skating in person, and with the ladies, outside of Russia, there is no great skating. OR at least good skating. Last night, outside of Cheyeon and Kaori, the rest were almost unwatchable.

It was just Cheyeon, there was nobody there but her.

She was trying to compete internationally for Kazakhstan but it seems things didnt work out for her in that regard.
We don't know yet if it didn't work out. Kazakhstan is willing to let her compete for them, even if they didn't reach out to her and she didn't communicate the desire to switch to them before she told Rus Fed.

Wow, Kulikova really showed a new level today. Its one thing to have a single fluke stage but to be so consistent in 2 events in something real.

I saw potential in her a while ago and I'm glad shes filling it, in a sport where that so often doesnt happen.

Her performance today was much better even than her first stage, very confident, expressive and powerful.

@katymay here is a girl with real leg strength, by the way. She absorbs everything in her legs and barely kips on landings. Her rotational power is also very explosive and developed. Very impressive.

Kulikova impressed me the first round and this time as well. Chance for a bronze medal again if Maya starts falling and Yametova has a bad weekend.
