2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games | Jan 27 - Feb 1

Congratulations @Ichatdelune and sweet dreams.
Good for Adam to be second. That's a silver (Youth) Olympic medal!
And New Zealand in the prizes. Wonderful
Sorry about Jacob though.
I am going to watch this evening even if I allready know the outcome.

Interesting - I have a pretty good pop-up blocker so I don't have issues loading the page - I'll edit the link.

I'm using AVG, and it said that there is a Trojan Horse.

The page didn't load properly for me. But, that may be because of AVG's actions against what it detected.

It was fun to watch, have fun in your evening (it's already late night hours where I am)!

Well that's no good - I edited my post with a different link to a similar article so hopefully that's better - pls edit your post to delete that link - thanks for the heads up.

Done. (Sorry it wasn't done sooner. I shut the computer down while I had my breakfast).

I just read the new page, and what a story! I am a massive fan of Bing Crosby anyway, but I just loved that story! And I loved what Bob Hope did (I'm a massive fan of his too!)

Piece of advice to anybody reading this - if you get the opportunity, make sure to watch the "Road To" series of films. Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour are a great treble-act.

I had to leave for a pilates class right after Jacob's skate, so just rewinding to watch the medal ceremony now

So thrilled for Yanhao, but I do feel for Jacob. This is the 2nd time he dropped from 1st position to 4th overall, and both times he pushed Yanhao up the podium 😅

And I love that the top 6 are all different countries! Some small feds too ❤️

Better late than never...

anyone from Canada knows how the Fed picked David Li ? so many age eligible skaters could have been chosen... like Anthony for instance?

Don't hear me wrong. I think David did wonderfully well and deserves to be here.
Selection criteria is here.

It depended on the international scores, and David Li had the highest on the JGP of the eligible men. Grayson had the second highest, about 5 points lower than David. Anthony was about 15 points lower than David.

Thanks. As I said, I like David so not being bitter but was wondering. I think Skate Canada is perhaps putting themselves in a weird situation though... For instance, in dance, if I am not mistaken, we had other options as well who perhaps had slower starts to the season but scored higher at Nationals. Does it really matter ? Not to me ;) but to the athletes themselves it must be frustrating to know that you had to peak a bit too early for that? I don't know ... just wondering ;)

What a joy to watch these young men! Let's hope ID will also be good.
Loved Rio's 'Nathan' (well he got to be 5th after a disappointing SP in Korea as well). Some nice showings by lesser well-known skaters (at least to me). I did feel sorry for Jacob, but that's how it goes sometimes. And I really enjoyed watching the winner, the second and third place.

Going to be in bed when this starts, so this is a placeholder.

I'm interested to see how Yanhao Li is skating when he turns 17. The speed and fluidity in his skating at only 15 was interesting to see. Congrats to all.

This can probably be fixed by moving Junior Nationals earlier to around mid-November like Japan did, at least for YOG season. Their Junior Nats was on 17-19 Nov and the YOG selections were announced afterwards. The juniors don't usually have much happening for 6 weeks after JGP finishes anyway, so this scheduling shouldn't be an issue.

Still means that they need to peak in November which can still be considered 'early'. But I got the impression that the YOG entries had to be submitted pretty early too, hence countries with late nationals have to pick based on the best they have at that moment.

Mid-November is when most of the sectionals in Canada are happening, with the qualifier for Nationals (Skate Canada Challenge) happening at the beginning of December. Challenge this season finished a few days before the YOG selections were announced. Everyone selected for YOG did compete at Challenge though, so it could be used instead if they wanted to have some kind of qualifer for YOG without moving Nationals.
