It's actually the other way around, Thierry is much shorter than Zach, 11 cm in fact. Zach is still quite a lot shorter than Ben (10 cm), but if Brooke is actually 164 cm, they'd still have a 19 cm difference which isn't too bad for pairs.

Well, that is if Zach is even still interested in competitive skating... Otherwise, there are slim picking. There's Samiir Andjorin (CAN), but he hasn't had a partner and competed in a long time and doesn't seem to have even semi-stable triples.
Dmitry Epstein is also still looking for a partner, but he's a lot older than Brooke, and she'd probably have to relocate and change federations, which I can't see happening.
maybe Siianytsia??

He's barely 10 cm taller than Brooke, and at least 15-20 cm height difference is pretty much needed in pairs currently to do the elements safely and qualitatively well.

Maybe there are a few Russian male pairs skaters floating around who are at least 180-185 cm tall and who would like to leave Russia, but among North American pairs men, most of the ones searching currently seem to be on the shorter side.

Just watched Lia Cho (Novice women short) and she scored 54.4 which is pretty good. I checked her score sheets and they said her 3T on her combo got a q and i slowed it down and it was 100%fully rotated so i thought that was unfair. Anyway, cant wait to watch her tomorrow in the free program.
I slowed down the replay too. To me, it was fully rotated too.

3Lz 3Tq, 3F, 2A

Not bad; Hopefully, she skates the free skate better than she did at the Challenger event.

I pray 🙏 she nails that 2A 3T and 3Lo. These are the two jumping elements she still has to add to her accomplishments, as she has never executed these jumping elements with positive GOE. Also, last time, she had a rare fall on the 2T of the 3F 2T combo. To me, that was a one off. We will see how she does tomorrow. I really want her to lock down one of those two international spots for Novice 🫡

Sorry guys.. tough and busy week... i had forgotten to post the thread about Canada Cup.. it's been posted already and @saine has provided archives already !!!!

Well, i just watched her free, and its safe to say she absolutely nailed that program! She scored 112 in the free with a total of 166.56. What a skate! She even topped her own canadian record by 13 points. She scored 33 points above 2nd place (Sandrine Blais) AMAZING!!!

I know. She peaked at Nationals!

I’m still waiting for official protocols. I think she nailed the 2A 3T and 3Lo for the first time this season! 👏

Only thing left to do, is maybe master another triple triple combo, in case the lutz is the mandatory triple jump. Other than that, Lia should start practicing 3A 😳🤗

Edit: after protocols being out, looks like she nailed the 2A 3T;
However, the 3Lo had a q; So, the triple loop is still a jump she has left to master.
Also, she got a ! to her 3F (second time it has been called)
And a 2A eu 3Sq too
So, still has room to clean up her triples)

Yes I've seen her do 3A in the harness, and its very big, i'm sure she has room to do a quad.

What? Really 😳
Tell me more;
Wow! We have a little prodigy coming up!

I was just happy for one of our athletes to being close to mastering the non ultra-c triple jumps! Go Lia

Congrats to Fabbri/Ayer for winning bronze at Challenge Cup on short notice. Hopefully that will help them get a non-host GP spot next season.

It looks like Matthew didn't have a good short there judging by the protocol :( He lost a lot of competition time in the fall, which is a shame. Hopefully he can do better in the free and get some WS points.

That is what I love to see. Our fifth best dance team assigned to an international event and winning a bronze medal 🥉
Congrats Fabbri/Ayer 👏

By the way, I stumbled across this article, and it seems like Canada is not sending any skaters to Coupe du Printemps this season (and probably nowhere else either).
They didn't even bother updating their website for those at Challenge cup... Usually, they put up a few challengers where they intend to assign skaters... I guess organizing worlds a "second" time in 4 years with perhaps lower attendance in this post-covid/crazy inflation era is costing Skate Canada too much moolah.

They do have Challenge Cup on there, but it was wrong initially. Internet Archive helped with this. Here they had it listed after Junior Worlds. It's updated now so that Challenge Cup is listed before Junior Worlds. So it's fixed now 😅

ok.. but that's a last minute fix... the last time i checked a little while ago, there was nothing :) or maybe i didn't see it because of the mistake they had made... but in any case, they never posted Fée Ann's outing... so yeah... there is something going on

Wow!! My expectations have just gone up. I actually have some hope we might see Fee Ann in an international event, right now.

I can see them sending skaters to a different event since last year they sent out some of the novice skaters who did well at Nationals to Coupe du Printemps. Lia has a lot of buzz around her, so I can see them wanting to get her out there in a category that she's eligible for.

If they do want to send out the novices with other skaters, it'd be Triglav Trophy or Black Sea Ice Cup in April. But that's an if since it's Skate Canada after all.
