2024 World Championships Men's Free Skate

It was just 5 mins later that Midori landed her own 3Lz-3T in the same competition.
Oh no, poor Kristi Y! 😅

Doesn't Midori still do adult competitions? She must really love to skate!

Anyway super fun competition! And it's not quite 1:30pm here in Aus, so I should probably get up off the couch and do something...

Sorry for Shoma.. wasn't his best... and i'm not sure his best would've won here either.

I heard talks around the rink this week about Shoma Uno's new title as if were a garanteed acconplishment, which is another reason I had to come and watch the men's event even though it's not something I follow as I do with the ladies.
And I have to agree with you, even without the unfortunate mistakes, it is my opinion he would definitely not have beaten the winner, unless this winner made some devastating mistakes. The winner's skate is the standard/level the men skaters have to beat and Shoma Uno's skate is just sadly not up to this level. Let's see how they prepare for next season.

Wait a second...was that the infamous commentator just then?

Merci beacoup to you too, sir :P

Does anyone else's stream freeze at "Pre/post unilateral ready France télévisions"? :laugh2:
Yes! But I'm watching something else now.

I bet they're waiting to interview Adam SHF!

I wonder what the French is for "utterly amazing, crazypants performance" is?

It just always looked to me in hindsight that women's figure skating went backwards from 1992 to 1994, and then again from 2002 to 2006. I've never been able to appreciate Oksana Baiul or Shizuka Arakawa as champions. It's possible because I'm a millennial and just have a different viewpoint that things that are objective should be weighed more highly than those that are subjective. I don't know.

Very lucky to watch in an era of Valieva's free skate at the Rostelecom Cup in 2021 and now this. This is was on the biggest stage under enormous pressure no less.

I hope the ISU don't reduce the number of jump elements to 6 and repeating the same jump 3 times it would be total regression of the sport.
I don't want that either. Variety should be valued. It's fairly objective.

Well, it was a good event, but I'm still butthurt that Tiger Dude didn't make the cut for the free.

I love that guy. He entertains me.
Same! Vladimir L is so fun!

You kind of wish they all could have made it, but imagine 40 free skates!

I have no words...what Ilia was able to pull off going last with tremendous pressure on his shoulders. What a feat! I hope his athleticism and moxy can light a spark for figure skating in the U.S.

My prediction for the top three... Ilia, Yuma and Adam, but thought for sure that was going down after Adam's disastrous short. What a comeback!!

The quality and depth in the men's field far outpaces the women. What a fun ride this event was! :party2:
