You can always rely on the French to confuse you.

Denis LE GUIFF (FRA) came out wearing a hoody. OK. What's strange about that? Well, it had a white square on the front of it which looked like the armour worn by the storm troopers in "Star Wars". And a car seatbelt going across it.

No idea what the music was. But, it was the type of music that you would not be surprised to see Joubert skating to.

That was funny. The final skater, Bryan GRAYSON (AUS), was skating to "I'm Still Standing" by Elton John.

Was he making a statement?

I take it he is in some way connected to Louise GRAYSON (AUS), who was the second skater to skate in the previous competition.

Yep, she's sitting with him for his results. And from the body language, I would say she is more likely to be his wife than his sister.

Actually, seeing them together, they look like the stereotypical Pairs partnership. The size difference is perfect!

I don't know if they have ever tried Pairs skating, but they are not entered in either of the Pairs competitions here.

EDIT: Looked them up during the resurfacing. They do skate together... as Ice Dancers! They were the only competititors in the Adult Bronze Ice Dance at the 2023 New South Wales Championships. And they are competing in the Bronze Ice Dance competitions here on Thursday and Friday.

Is this a competition for retired professional skaters? Or can anyone who meets the age requirements compete?
How is it different from World Masters Games?

I think it's anybody that meets the age requirements.

From what I can tell from the skaters that I have looked up, a lot of the participants are coaches at skating clubs. And there are also a lot of enthusiastic amateurs (in the true sense of the word, not the Olympic sense).

But, with the sheer number of skaters competing, it is only a small number that I have been able to look up.

The following page on the ISU website gives a good summary, as well as a link to the detailed rules:

Hope this helps

What I wrote on Sunday:

We need more Neil Diamond in figure skating.

CaroLiza_fan

We just got some more, courtesy of Roland SUCKALE (USA). This time it was "Hello".

Don't think I've seen a programme to "Hello" before, but it really worked well.

Taking a long time for the scores. But, Roland 's chatting away to his companions, so it's not bothering him.

Wow! Neil Diamond twice in one competition!  :points:

Alan LESSIK (DEU) was skating to Neil's cover of "Both Sides, Now" by Joni Mitchell. And it really worked well too!

I loved his shirt. It was dark blue with light blue swirls. But, it was more than that. It looked like what you would get if you were taking a long exposure photograph of somebody waving a blue sparkler around.

I don't know if he is an artistic photographer, but I do know that he's a novellist.

Unfortunately, Alan had a very noticable stumble.

He goes into 4th position.

The first skater, Galiya KLINKOVA (DEU), was dressed up as a cowboy.

Unfortunately, things didn't go the way she wanted, and she was crying when waiting for her results. The gentleman sitting next to her was having to comfort her.

But then a little boy and a little girl came in and gave her a bunch of flowers. And this instantly really cheered her up.

Awwwww!!!!!

Can't believe it has taken until halfway through the third day to get our first programme to "Je t'aime" by Lara Fabian.

Yet, amazingly, it wasn't the Canadian that skated at #3, Annette MORETTI. It was the Czech skater that was on after her at #4, Bozena KRIZANOVA!

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Michiko HAYASHI (JPN) was wearing a bright yellow dress, and skating to a piano instrumental.

Everything about it was beautiful. Especially the skating.

She goes into 2nd position.

Phew. Lost track of where we were in the competition, and realised just in time to get this up before she started.

Very pale blue dress. It's not far off being able to blend in with the ice.

Lovely spins in the early stages of the programme.

Thought she was going to get her legs tangled in her first combination jump. But she made it through it.

Individual jump went better.

Sit spin lovely.

No major issues with the next few elements.

And finishes with a hydroblade.

I'm nearly sure I've seen that guy in the grey Cyprus hoodie somewhere before. Or else he looks like somebody.

She goes into 2nd position.

Round of applause from everybody sitting in the results area. Including Liubov!

:cheer: WELL DONE LIUBOV!!! :cheer:

Awwww. That was lovely.

When Joanna SORG (DEU) was waiting for her results, one of the Polish skaters came in and gave Joanna her flower crown, and gave her a big hug.

And you know something. The crown really went well with Joanna's white dress! ;)

Well, that was a bundle of fun from Nilüfer ERDEBIL (CAN)!

She was skating to "Trombone" by AronChupa & Little Sis Nora. And you know how I said after her Artistic FS that she was really selling it. Well, she was even more in her element in this programme.

I like her. A lot.

She goes into 2nd position.

CaroLiza_fan

And on the other side of the Warm-Up, we had another fun programme from Nina von EHR (DEU).

I am really kicking myself trying to work out what the music is. I have definitely heard it before, and I am pretty sure I have seen it being skated to before. And I have a feeling that it has something to do with Romeo and Juliette.

But whatever it was, it made for a great programme!

CaroLiza_fan

That was beautiful from Olena ZLOBINTSEVA (UKR).

I think the music and costume were Chinese. (If they are not, I apologise). Whatever they were, they were beautiful.

And the skating was beautiful.

Wow. She must have the whole Ukrainian team with her!

She goes into 5th position.

CaroLiza_fan

And another beautiful programme from her today.

That black dress she was wearing is just gorgeous!

A thing that struck me when seeing the Ukrainian team sitting with her - they are look very young.

Have the age ranges for Adult skating changed recently? Because over the past few days there have been a lot of skaters that I have thought looked too young for the Class that they are competing in.

Ooh, a female jazzy version of "Forever Young". I like the song to start with, but I love this version.

I don't know why, but ever since I saw the entries I have been wondering why Tammy COWAN (NZL)'s name rings a bell with me.

Anyway, I loved everything about that programme.

She goes into the lead.
