OMG! Never, ever thought that Mao would join FOI...

Perhaps it has something to do with the meet-up (of Shizuka and Mao) during the last show of Everlasting 33?

But I'm happy for Mao's taking part in the show; she really had very nice solo programs from Everlasting 33 ('Kiss the rain' and 'Bolero').
On the one hand, Mao gets to skate with some old friends: Daisuke, Akiko, Shoma!!, even Weaver and Poje. On the other hand, she gets to collaborate with skaters like Shae-Lynn Bourne, who she didn't have a chance to work with before. I think Mao has skated in the same show before with Lambiel. But probably not Jason?

Anyway, a very nice surprise and a good one.

She has! They were both part of the Denis Ten and Friends cast in 2014. Mao was also at Ice Legends in 2016, which had one of the best ice show casts ever (Stephane, Mao, Daisuke, Carolina, Deniss, Tessa/Scott, Tatiana/Maxim, Brian J.). I was there - I'll never forget witnessing this masterpiece live :

I'm glad he didn't hurt himself this time. Last time (at Hyoen) it didn't go so well (during the last show he fell out of the handstand sideways and slightly injured his arm). I'm especially relieved that he didn't try a backflip at PIW, which he said he is currently learning to do. Please be careful, Dai!

Sadly I just tried to sign up for this and, when I got to the page to pay, it said that this streaming was not available to anyone living outside of Japan.

I had the same experience. Someone told me that I should have used a VPN and set it for Japan, and then it would have worked. Very disappointing. At that point I didn't feel like messing with the VPN.

I'd be careful, from yes - from previous experience even if you get the VPN right sometimes you are then asked for a Japanese credit card/phone number Maybe some Japanese fan will put up a linkable livestream.

I saw someone write that once the VPN was set to JPN, the U.S. credit card was accepted on Pia Livestream without any problems. Pia and Pia Livestream are 2 different things. The link I posted was for Pia Livestream.

It was announced that "Noto Peninsula Reconstruction Support Charity Acting Competition Challenge Challenge" will be held in Ishikawa Prefecture on September 15.

Top skaters including Yuzuru Hanyu (consecutive winner of Sochi and Pyeongchang Olympics), Satoko Miyahara (2nd place at World Championships), Akiko Suzuki (3rd place at World Championships), and Takahito Mura (winner of Four Continents Championships) will participate in this event in support of Ishikawa's desire to bring smiles and energy to the people. In addition, the title of the festival, "Challenge, Challenge, Challenge," expresses the message of overcoming difficulties and moving forward.

In addition to the skaters' performances, the event will also be connected to the disaster-stricken areas in Noto via video.

The event cannot be viewed at the venue, but will be streamed live via a video streaming service, with proceeds from the streaming going to Ishikawa Prefecture to support reconstruction efforts. Details, including tickets, will be announced on TV Kanazawa's website at a later date.

There's a reasonable chance that it will be accessible internationally too, as Yuzuru has been working on the logistics for this with his own shows and knows that a lot of fans will pay especially given the hint this week of at least one new program being created...

No Japanese credit card/phone number or vpn client required. I guarantee that it works, because I watched The Ice, Mao's Beyond (last year) and Bloom on Ice (this year) this way (I'm in Germany) .

Based on my experience with Mao's "Beyond" and "The Ice" last year, here's a guide how to watch (in case the conditions haven't changed):

You need to register with your email address at the PIA website beforehand and list Japan as your country of residence (otherwise you won't be able to view the stream). You are then able to buy a streaming ticket by credit card.

The new charity show is clearly an answer (or a follow-up) to Yuzuru's recent visit to Noto Peninsula just a few weeks ago, talking to survivors and witnessing how bad the situation there still is, even though six months has passed already since the New Year Day earthquake. Here's the News Every NNN TV report on his visits there as the Special Messenger. You can see for yourself.
I must say I love to see skaters contribute to their communities and act like true role models to their fans, showing they care.
Kudos to Yuzuru, Satoko, Akiko and Takahito !! Guys, respect!


On another angle, in the Q&A section of Kanazawa's TV website who will be organizing the show, the info was published in response to questions that news about live stream should come late July. So fingers crossed paid streaming will be made available for international fans (and their credit cards), too.
