OMG! Our two ineligible girls killed the rest of our Junior Girls!
Lia!!!
She already has all the non 3A triples and not one issue on any of her jump rotations I think… she also landed her most troublesome triple… the 3Lo with ease today.
Also, she now goes for two 3Lz and two 3F. Nothing left to do, other than improve her artistry and maybe, learn the 3A before she is eligible for Juniors internationally. What a star? I don’t see anybody beating her domestically in Juniors. Maybe, aim to beat Kaiya’s 179.92 National record.
Ksenia!! I can’t believe she just missed out by being born one day too late. She also surpassed the 155 benchmark for JGP selection. But, is sadly ineligible. She does need better combos though…and needs to learn the 3T. She has this season to practice that jump. Also, because she didn’t win Novice Nationals, I guess she is also ineligible to compete as a Junior domestically too, right? So, I guess we will see her in Novice, as the fave.
JGP selection is clear as day to me.
Hetty Shi - 2 events
She is part of the National team and skated well here. Just has to work on not popping her jumps
Lulu Lin - 2 events
She placed 10th at Junior Worlds last season. I would give her two events to give her more international experience
Kara Yun - 1 event
She scored 156.24 last season and placed 3rd here out of the eligible girls. She also won her only international event this season in that American event.
Aleksa - 1 event
This is due to her silver medal at both Challenger and Nationals last season. No other spot to give out. Plus, her 158 score at Nationals last season surpassed the benchmark needed
Next, is Lucille and Natasha (
). There is no way they will give any of these girls a JGP spot. I don’t think they’ve even surpassed 145 once in their lifetime. No top 6 placement and 25-30 points away from 155, at this event. They are not ready!
I’m just so proud the Novice Girls stepped up and showed everyone how it is done. By placing 1-2. I would seriously give Lia and Ksenia one Novice event each in 2024 (a gift they both earned after this event) and another after Nationals, in 2025. The usual. These two girls are the future. So, might as well invest in these two girls now. Plus, they earned it with these results.
The rest of the field can stay competing domestically until they improve some of the jumps.
I think they had a good comeback from it, but that is going to hurt their score.
