Fair enough though I doubt your field has a large subjective component for results evaluation. We are also talking about teenagers here. I don't like the pressure put on athletes by some fans but that's just me. YMMV
There is a difference between unreasonable expectations and specific and realistic goals, which older teens tremendously benefit from. Picking on one kid the way the judges did is what really would screw with one's self-esteem. Well, let's see how Paradis skates in Riga.

I want to be pleasantly surprised by a podium performance. It's a competition, not a show.
Of course. I will enjoy watching those who are ready to podium ;) I think Anthony is still building back some of his jumps and learning the 3a. I don't think he is quite ready for a podium... and if he got it, based on the excellence of his other elements, some people would be upset that he won on his PCS and GOEs. So, I guess we never win.

I would love to see Anthony win on the strength of his PCS and GOE. Because it is a figure skating competition where those elements are important.

But I am not a fair weather fan, and I root for my favorites whether or not they podium or have hopes of it. Glad he got selected for Riga; Vas-y Antho:hap10:. I realize it is a self selecting crowd of me and all my friends and family (haven't asked my little cousin). but of those who have seen him, they are far more excited about Anthony than any other Canadian man.
