Honestly a lot of skating that I watch in Skate America reminds me of Shoma in a good way. Perseverance, focusing on your own skating, never giving up even if it seems to late and you've missed your window of opportunity, saving yourself from what feels like the end of the world, respect for other competitors and their work, and not letting mistakes or failures let you down.
It also makes me feel like Shoma did right to step down. Compared to him, so many skaters have just really started their skating career or even their second competitive lives, while he's done it all for so long and has earned so much accolades. It's just different times I guess. I am very excited for skaters who achieved things they have never done before, and I didn't want Shoma to come back at all. But not because the skating is not great, because they're really great!!! I just think he has earned the time to actually live his life beyond this.

(and maybe in blue and green too).

Skate Canada seemed like Tribute to Shoma!
