2024 Skate Canada Rhythm Dance

It was their lowest GOE element, so I guess the judges did take off a bit (fans are free to argue whether it was enough of course)
I'm looking at protocols right now, I thought the GOE shown on the TES box had held but it didn't, so I may have to partially retract my statement

Loved Piper and Paul.
Think the costumes are perfection!
More speed and attack needed for sure.

La/la music to me doesn’t make sense after the Austin Powers music. The fall was not on an element, but they should probably be 3rd.

I actually liked Lop/Bri and I usually don’t.

The Taschlers have great deep edges but there’s still something missing from them for me, and a Donna Summer song about finding a hook up with a brother and sister team creeps me out.

Yeah, and their best in the RD is 82.3. This is about 5 points lower. They definitely paid for it. If they'd been clean, they'd have a bigger gap over L/B.
totally agree. Their PCS were hit and they got the normal deduction. I have no problem with that. :)
Last week, I had a problem with the simple fact that Chock and Bates still received some 9.5 in PCS... i mean, so that means that without their fall they would have received 10 ? at their first event of the season ? For something that still needs polishing ? In any case, this time LaLa used their fall not on an element card, while C/B actually fell on an element...

I allow you to retract it fully. This is why friends are for.
No need to thank me ;)
Mamie I actually like LaLa a lot, I have had since their Warsaw Concerto and seeing them live at 2020 4CC, I know they are of absolute quality, but I'm sticking with partial retraction because I'm not quite sure whether their pattern steps should've had nearly the same GOE as L/B... I don't think they should've gone below L/B per say but the difference should've been splitting hairs imo

in the American sense of the word, I hope they become world champions ;)

Well, the Brits do use the word "brilliant" differently than we Yanks (at least the Brits I know). As well as "clever". As well as ... I'll stop here, the post will go on forever.

But with "World Champions", we are not divided by a common language.

I like both teams. I think what saved LaLa, is that the rest of the dance, prior to the fall was stellar and that's where the most points are played.... the pattern dance is one of their strength as good technicians so they went right into it and managed to retain level 3 if the TP kept that score... Sometimes, people get lucky with how the points are scored. But as it's been mentioned, they've received scores in the 80s for clean RDs in the past, so they definitely got some deductions.

Re L/B : i liked their RD much better last year.

They were severely penalized in PCS. They fell at pretty much the least costly moment, between elements, unlike some others who fall on their elements and still win :)
Skate Canada in 1987 was a test event for the 1988 Olympics venue in Calgary. The Garossinos were skating a brief transitional sequence in line with Rod behind his sister when he tripped in a rut and fell. Karyn went on for a few steps until she realized he wasn't behind her anymore, and looked back to see him scrambling up from his knees, and she stopped. They were both so startled there was a significant pause with looks of, "What HAPPENED?" "I don't know, I was skating and then I was flat on my face!" It took them awhile to race to where they were supposed to be on the ice by then and get back into the program, but they ended up, if I recall correctly, in the top five anyway.
